First Bcs: 1. OSU

Mon Oct 16, 2006 9:19 am

The top three were pretty predictable with OSU and USC #1 and #2. Auburn, with a crushing loss, ahead of West Virginia was kind of surprising.

I really don't think USC will get a shot at a title this year. I don't think they're that good, and have a feeling Cal will take care of them. Which means, the Nov 18th matchup between Ohio State and Michigan should decide 1/2 of the national title game. Auburn could still get to the championship game if they win out.

Your takes are welcome.

If Cal doesn't, Notre Dame will. Which will be sad, since I love it when SC beats ND.

SC is a really young team that is lucky to be in the top 10.

You mean a UF/Auburn national title game? If FL beat Auburn last night, the chances of Auburn getting to that game would be zilch, zero, nada.

Well, here is hoping USC doesn't win a single game. Either that, or UCLA kills their national title hopes in the Gauntlet.

In my perfect world Cal beats SC who in turns beats Norte Dame, which allows Cal to finally make it to the Rose Bowl.

I think USC's lucky is running out. They've escape three close games with wins (Wash, Wash State, AZ State). SC should be crushing these guys. Not winning by 6.

I could go for that. Any scenario that eliminates Notre Dame - the most over-hyped college football team in the country - is an excellent one!

Why? Auburn plays in the toughest conference in the country while WVU plays in that little thing called the Big East.

National title game impossible but a couple of losses by Arkansas would give us a UF/Auburn rematch in the SEC title game.

Absolutely. ND might be a great school but I love to see them lose in football.

How the f*ck is USC #2?!?! The last three weeks they've squeaked out wins.

No respect for UT...  no

Where is the true playoff system in college football!?!?!

BCS is flawed, always was, always will be...

Comments?

In the other divisions. I went to a DII school, Northern Michigan. I going to date myself here. In 1974 my school was 0-11. The next year due to having a playoff system, NMU was 13-1 and national champs. No way that they could have achieved that status with out a playoff system. With all the $$$ in the bowl games, we will never see a playoff in DI football.

How does the highest ranked 1-loss team in both polls constitute 'no respect'?

SEC title game.

Ah, good point.

I hate the BCS and would love a playoff. Sadly, like politics, there is so much money in the current system it will be very tough to change.

You got your championship last year. Move along.

THE TITLE OF THE THREAD IS BCS. I never said anything about AP or Coach polls.  Yeah sure

Hmm, last time i checked the giving of respect was a decidely human characteristic...

If you're talking BCS, then why not have a particular gripe with part of the computer formula, rather than 'respect'?
