Rockstar's Bully

Fri Oct 20, 2006 6:01 am

So Rockstar is out with a new game, this time named Bully. Looks pretty cool so far. Anybody play it yet, if so, what do you think?

Don't understand anything. Sorry.
This seems to be an insider thread.

Currys (a large retailer here in the UK) have already banned it and said they won't be selling it and I agree with them.  Smile

Why? The game isn't nearly as bad as GTA, and you are helping the poor, bullied nerds  Wink

To do what? Walk into school one day with a gun, next thing you know it's on the news.

Bollocks. Thats a Daily Mail excuse for banning them.

Of all the people who have played GTA, very very few have ever decided to go on binges of shooting, prostitute killing and car jacking. It just doesn't happen. All these people who say these games cause people to become violent seem to forget that school shootings occured before these games as well (remember Dunblane?). A game is not going to cause someone to become violent.

Thanx for advise. I checked it, but I seems that it doesn't match the needs of my age  old  . I will discuss it with my grandson next time.
Cheers.

That's true, but it could push someone who is already unstable in the first place, over the edge. Especially if they are the victim of bullies at school.

The only people who buy that are Hilary Clinton and yourself. How many carjackings did GTA cause? Zero?

Well, the biggest store in the UK has decided not to sell the game so what does that tell you?  Smile

Not exactly hugely influential in the gaming market though.

And its still bollocks - someone shouting at someone else could cause that person to go over the edge. Watching 'The Bill' or a similar programme could do the same. As long as the game is sold to those who are old enough, what is the problem?

I like the apparent premise of beating up a bully to defend others, but I haven't seen enough.

Currys.digital are completely off the rails.
They have the GTA series banned as well.
Everyone else stocks it - obviously the management is sitting on a safe tory seat.

I guess I should buy it soon, cause God knows that those damn politicians will have it out of the stores soon enough.
Some say its more controversial than GTA.

Finally someone gets it. And as far as Dunblane, it also applies to Columbine and l'ecole poly in Montreal.

So I went and rented the game, and I love it. It's obviously made by the same people that made GTA, as the maps and controls are similar. Decided I wanted to rent it first, as I rather pay $48 for a game I like, than $40 for a game I don't like.

Just because a big firm wants to doctor/protect their precious image it doesn't necessarily mean that their opinion is correct.

I've been playing this game all afternoon. It's totally crap that it will influence bullying. People are just pretending to be moral, when all they really do is just lose their sense of reality.
