Dem GOP: Who Really Supports The Troops?

Wed Oct 25, 2006 4:41 am

This non-partisan veteran's group.

http://iava.org/index.php?option=com...ntent&task=view&id=2023&Itemid=210

Ranks the Senators by their votes.

http://bobgeiger.blogspot.com/2006/1...rt-troops-rankings-for-senate.html

Kinda of cuts through the hype that GOP is pro-military? Also consider, by an overwelming margin, veterans from Iraq/Afghanistan are running for Congress on the Democratic slate. 11 to 1.

This non-partisan veteran's group.

After a quick peek at the website, they hardly seem non-patisan, no matter what they claim. Until you define what type of support you are talking about, it is hard to say who gives more of it.

That said, I think both sides exploit the troops, but that is another matter.

Anyone who says one party supports troops more than others are fools. There are plenty on both sides who honestly, earnestly support the troops in their efforts. There are some in both parties who only want to use them as political and electioneering props.

No one has the monopoly on support of the troops.

My be helpful if you explain "why" you think they are partisan? The first link was to their website. The 2nd link was a blogger who merely compiled the grades for each Senator in a complete list.

Oh yes falcon. The Dems and GOP are just two sides of the same coin in this matter. As we all know it's the Dems have bashed the GOP over the patriotism and not supporting the troops for years now....LOL

You're a great example of a weak knee'd liberal. You can't help yourself. You take the GOP stance and the Dem stance and slice it down the middle. And that's your opinion. Wondering why other Dems aren't as wise as you? Can't we all just get along? You're the exact reason we've lost the last ten years. You have no fire in the belly.

I'd say I'm more an example of a fair-minded person, Artie R Smith. I am a partisian, but not to the point where I'm blinded to all around me, or the truth about many who don't share my views.

Thanks for the laugh, though.

Uh, that's what you call a "moderate", Artie. Look it up in the dictionary. I am more liberal on some issues, more conservative on others.

I'm not sure what you are, but your immediate and continuous support of the London police happily shooting first and only asking soft questions after an innocent civilian was already dead really threw me for a loop. I'm not sure what kind of 'moderate' supports the killing of innocent civilians.

What does that have to do with this, SATX? I've always maintained one thing: I am a moderate. I'm Center-Left, and say that with no shame. If you don't like my stances on here, I can only say I'm not on here to please you or anyone else. I don't take everything on party line but on it's individual merits. I supported what the London police did, and I don't see why I need to apologize to you or anyone on here.

This is his schtick. . Pick an issue/event. Falcon will take the middle route. As long as he gets criticism from the left and right. This proves he is "reasonable". ...LOL

Much like these editorials that list a Right winger claiming liberal media bias, then lists a left winger claiming media favoritism towards conservatives.
They chuckle and say something to the effect " we must be doing something right, we're getting slammed from both sides"" ha ha ha.

It's a neutered, meaningless political outlook. Mostly harmless.

It's an outlook based on personal thought, not party-line playbook, Artie. The truth is, you are what the far right is really talking about when they refer to the "liberals"-people who are so far to the left that they cannot even see the middle.

Because they have an agenda. They even admit it.

From www.m-w.com

Main Entry: 1par·ti·san
Variant(s): also par·ti·zan /'pär-t&-z&n, -s&n, -"zan, chiefly British "pär-t&-'zan/
Function: noun
Etymology: Middle French partisan, from north Italian dialect partian, from part part, party, from Latin part-, pars part
1 : a firm adherent to a party , faction, cause, or person; especially : one exhibiting blind, prejudiced, and unreasoning allegiance

All sorts of groups and people claim to be "non-partisan", just because they don't have an "R" or a "D" after thier name. Wish all you want, but it won't make it so.

Now, what sort of support for the troops did you have in mind?

That's right.

Ther Repubs and Democrats have BOTH helped to destroy the effectiveness and efficiency of the US Military . . . Bush 1 started the downsizing based on shortsightedness and Clinton accelerated it based on blindness . . .

You're spot on Falcon - both sides are to blame in their NON-Support of the US Military.

Quoting SATX (Reply 6):

Well, the wind blew and shit flew and here's a post by SATX . . .nothing constructive of course.

And here is the epitome of the Pot Kettle Black Scenario . . . the most vitriolic anti-Republican poster currently posting (in competition for all time winner only with RSmith) telling us someone else has a Schtick!  rotfl  Absolutely hilarious.

Say, ArtieFluffer . . . when are you going to say you were wrong about the Eisenhower Battle Group???

Quoting ArtieFufkin (Reply 4):
You're the exact reason we've lost the last ten years.

Sorry to burst your bubble ArtieRSmith . . . but the reason the Democrats keep getting their asses handed to them is the have nothing, zippo, no plan . . . their only plan is to attack the Republicans and point fingers. Repubs have plans - shitty ones of course - but you and your fellow uber-lefties have nothing . . . empty suits . . . .

But you can continue to live in your fantasy world . . . it's much more entertaining . . . . imagine if you posted something that actually required cognitive reasoning and thought . . . . I'm sure my Hard Drive would explode.

What about the Eisenhower there Artirepuffin?

Calling yourself a "moderate" or Center-X is the exact opposite of taking a serious stand. Thus, why would you try to make a point of being an unapologetic fence hugger?

I've been here long enough, and ANC has written more than enough arrogant posts, for me to see him paint himself into a corner dozens of times. However, he has not once ever admitted that he screwed up or went too far in any of the threads I've ever read. Reminds me of Bush, in a way. Feel free to keep up your Center-BS friendship though, means nothing to me either way.

Maybe it's because, in the same thread, a few years back, SATX, I was labled both a right-wing fascist, and a communist. And I think that is worth noting that I am center-left. That puts me, by the way, where the majority of the American people are politically-somewhere right in the middle. Not everyone is a cookie-cutter liberal or conservative, following party lines. Most think for themselves, have some ideas that are more liberal, some that are more conservative. You, on the other hand, simply follow whatever the left says, and there are those on here who do the same thing on the right.

Wrong...it's called slicing out the rhetoric and coming up with a workable solution. Tin-pot lunatics like you, Fufkin, R. Smith, B757300, and others with a "schtick" get nothing done other than to impede the "other team"...at the expense of the American citizen's desire to see something done.

Congress has NEVER been very well respected for largely this reason.

Quoting ArtieFufkin (Reply 4):
You're a great example of a weak knee'd liberal. You can't help yourself.

Quoting ArtieFufkin (Reply 4):
You're the exact reason we've lost the last ten years.

Last I checked, Clinton won his 8 years in office by being the exact opposite of you. With a level head, he appealed to those who don't have a fanatical party affiliation, and actually reached out to all sides on most matters. His Presidency was quite productive in some respects as well. To bad you and SATX don't see that. The reason you've lost lately is because there are too many dingbats, and not enough Clintons (Bills anyways) in the Democratic Party.

That said, watch as the GOP falls, undercut by some of the most viscious and brain dead right wing die hards ever. What's happening to the GOP, happened to the Dems.

Quoting ArtieFufkin (Reply 4):
You have no fire in the belly.

Nor you a brain in your head...

I'll take Falcon's grey matter and colder-than-a-witch's-teet stomach even with his abraisive side over your "either with us or against us" mentality any day. If that mentality didn't leave the Shrub's Presidency in a good light, what the hell makes you think it'll work for you or the Dems!?

Quoting Falcon84 (Reply 16):

On that last sentence...understatement of the century.

Idealougues are dangerous...to themselves mostly...however there are rare instances like with Hitler and Stalin where their blind devotion to ideas starts costing other people more than just a few inconveniences.

So here I am.....scrolling down this thread on the ol' BlackBerry, thinking to myself that the only logical response to the original question has to be: whether or not we support the WAR, we all need to support the TROOPS fighting the war.....but then I'm greeted with a bash-fest.

Oh, but you all crack me up sometimes. Thanks for the entertainment  lol !!!

You admit you're an arrogant SOB? That's a bit more progress than I had expected.

So how about giving up the moderate-independent tattoo on your forehead while you're turning over this new leaf? Just to show you what a nice guy I am I'll even pay for the removal. The only string attached is that you have to let me choose the method. I'm thinking rough grit sandpaper? Don't worry, I'll let Falcon apply lotion afterward and I'll include a bottle large enough so he can provide some full-body therapy in the process. If completely removing it is simply out of the question, how about adding *only applies in Alaska along the bottom? Either way is fine with me.
