Friday's Stupid Thread - How High Do You Sit

Fri Oct 27, 2006 3:10 pm

So today let's discuss the height of your office/desk/whatever chair compared to the floor. It appears mine stands at 23.5 cm from the floor. Yours ?

You sit 9 in. off the floor? My chair is at 16.75 in or 43 cm.

I have no idea of the exact measurement, but I always set my office chair to the highest position.

No, I won't bring a meter to the office and measure it -- I have more important things to do with my time, such as watching pictures of planes or posting all sorts of stuff on a certain aviation website.  Silly

This is more of a random thread than a stupid one but hey. Um, I think mine is around 50cm at home in the office, but at school it's around 35-40cm.

BTW, are we supposed to just grap a ruler and measure it?

Also, just looking below where I'm typing I see lots of 'Friday's Stupid Thread', most started by you UTA, were you the on that originally started this and do you get annoyed when someone else starts one?

I am indeed the originator of the FST both here and on other forums  Wink

I'm not annoyed at all when someone starts another one, the more the merrier...the moderators may disagree on that one though  Silly

I have no idea how high my chair is in either the office (where the adjustment doesn't work - we're too tight to get new chairs!) or at home, where it is adjusted for my perfect form to sit and view the trivial rubbish that appears in "Non-Av" Big grin

I don't know.

Normally I will sit with the chair high enough that I can just get my knees under the desk.

Uhm, about 39-40cm off the floor. I'm short, but I have heels on so I had to adjust it this morning.

And yes I actually have a meter at my desk and measured. It's a very slow day...

(Thats why I joined Airliners finally, and this, of all confounded topics, is my first post! :p )

Cheers.

Thanks everyone! Big grin (Just got back from visiting fam in London, I feel at home with all the UK welcomes! Haha.)

And yes, for those of you wondering I am of the female persuasion. If I wasn't, I'm sure my co-workers would be dragging me out of the office about now, chair and all. I don't think cross-dressing fits our dress-code...(Though with some people here, I do tend to wonder!  Wink )

They probably use the same algorithm used for ranking sports teams. A lot of unknown variables modified and out pops a magic number.

Never really measured that actually. Probably 30 or 40 cm. I do know that sometimes at school, I raised the chair seat in Biology and Chemistry class in such a way that I would sit about 50 or 60 cm high.
