College Football Week 9: How'd Your Team Do?

Sun Oct 29, 2006 9:16 am

We're getting down to the nitty gritty in the college football season, and one of the giants fell today.

Oregon State holds off USC 33-31, to all but end the Trojans hope of a 3rd straight appearance in the naitonal title game.

The Buckeyes destroyed another Big 10 oppoenent, shutting out Minnesota 44-0. Michigan beat Northwestern 17-3, keeping OSU and UM on a collision course in three weeks.

And I hate to say this, but the Temple Owls snapped their 20-game losing streak, pissing off Jim Rome no doubt-and they did it against my beloved BG Falcons.

How embarrassing...

Your takes.

Florida won 21-14 in the World's Largest Outdoor Cocktail Party to keep the chance of a national title going among the other 1 loss teams out there.

Sorry your Falcons lost (wish you still had Urban Meyer don't you?) but anything that pisses that jackass blowhard Jim Rome off is a good thing in my book.

Texas pulled off a most improbable comeback against Texas Tech, and in the process, Colt McCoy continued to show that he is pretty damned good- redshirt freshman, indeed!

Michigan won in a somewhat unimpressive fashion, but they held another opponent to negative rushing yards and knocked out another quarterback in the process. It'll be good to have Mario Manningham back for the Indiana and Ohio State games.

The Fighting John L Sparties got smacked around by Indiana today, 46-21, with Indiana holding a 46-7 lead at one point. They must be restless in East Lansing.

Yet another sad loss for my Buffs as they blow another lead and lose to the Kansas Jayhawks 20-15, officially ending any remote hopes of post-season activity (even though a below .500 season was guaranteed, we still had a remote though otherwise somewhat plausible shot at winning the North by winning out plus a couple of losses on the part of Nebraska and Missouri)...only 3 more games of suffering with Jackson at QB before we can start to work on next season's QB situation...

The USC loss was great. My buddy was at the game and told me it was unbelievable. I watched it on TV and thought the same.

Miami lost to GT 30-23. After this abortion, along with many others, Coker needs to go PRONTO. I've been saying this for sometime though. The AD, Donuts Dee, has to be canned as well.

an overhaul is needed, i hope we get Tedford.

Well....we definitely don't deserve the national title game. I couldn't believe we were #2 for as long as we were. Oh well, we'll see where we end up....

Washington State 37 -- UCLA 15

My Cougs move into sole possession of 3rd place in the Pac-10 (6-3, 4-2) with their win on the road. The schedule looks good from here on out, with Arizona, Arizona State and Washington remaining.

We're going bowling!!!

BC slaughtered Buffalo and ND beat Navy. Now combine that with my HS getting into the playoffs (maybe), that means GB has to win  biggrin
Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.

Not exactly, if USC wins out the rest of the year they've still got a shopt at going to the BCS Title Game.

Anyways, my Wisconsin Badgers nearly got upset at home against Illinois, but rallied in the second half to win the game 30-24.
Will you watch the Cleveland Browns and the Detroit Lions on Sunday? Only if coach Eric Mangini resigned after a loss.

Not to take anything away from the Cougars, but my Bruins just totally and completely folded in the second half.

Actually, I think this game will be a great metaphor for our season. Anyone know a good head coach?

They stand #9 in the current BCS. They're all but out of it.

Interesting to see what happens. Go look at the BCS standings, and see how far #2 Michigan (overall) is ahead of #3 West Virginia. It's still possible for an OSU-Michigan matchup for the National title, no matter the outcome on Nov 18th. It's probably just beyond the range of really happening, but if WVA and Lousiville both find a way to lose in the next few weeks, it could happen.

Damn, that'd be something!

I know the pain...we did the same thing against you last year.
