The Race For The White House Has Begun!

Tue Oct 31, 2006 8:42 am

Yes, that's right-we have our first candidate for 2008!

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,226264,00.html

Never heard of Duncan Hunter, to be honest, and don't think he'll be one of the finalist, but, sad to say, the race has started.

Jimmy Carter and Bill Clinton were hardlly household names either,Sen McCain was in Chicago today and seemed to be in campaign mode in a radio interview, well we're still a ways from the next "...and I approved this ad",though I have to say the primaries can be more fun than the general election.

Who?

The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Actually, he's not the first candidate to announce. Former Alaskan Senator Mike Gravel announced back in April that he was running for the Democratic nomination.

Here's a site that has a list of announced and possible Presidential candidates for not only the Democrats and the Republicans, but for the various 3rd parties and Independents as well.

I forgot about that bozo . . . damned Alaskans bringing discredit to the Democrats like that . . .

The ONLY thing Gravel did that was a service to this country was his 5 month long fillibuster against renewing the Draft. Honestly, you can credit him with getting the Draft killed . . . Nixon and company finally agreed to just let it expire in 1973.

Otherwise, he's a strange bird - made strager by age. The guy is off his rocker.

I saw the big lead-up to this on the news yesterday...He was having an
important news conference Monday afternoon.

I can't believe the media actually paid attention to this.

Duncan Hunter would not be able to win a statewide election, let alone
a national one.

He's a good product for the district he represents, but that's about it.

This is as "non-important" as Mark Warner announcing that he won't
be running for president.....as if we actually cared!

Actually, Mr. Warner not running was a little more news-worthy than Mr. Hunter's announcement. Being a centrist, Mr. Warner was seen as someone who could have made a lot of noise for '08.

His dropping out is a lot more significant, at least now, than Mr. Hunter's announcement to run.

I live in Virginia, and Warner's "declaration" made me yawn. He raised
our taxes and did very little to solve the transportation crisis that is
choking Northern Virginia. But he did bring in some business to the area
that helped to worsen the problem. Kudos to him!!!

And how did being a centrist fare out for those Democrats in the 2004
presidential primary? There were definitely more centrists than John Kerry
trying to get nominated.

Another week, another Falcon post on politics.

With regards to that post of yours, only a leftist liberal like you could call a tax-loving, tax raising, worshipped by Washington leftist punditry, overblown and over-hyped person like Warner a "centrist".

He is another "southern democrat" who is just like Hillary, Chuck Schumer, et. al.

Yaaaawn...

Here, Tex. Read up. This is from Wikipedia, which I doubt you can lable a Democratic rag:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mark_Warner

He worked well with moderate Republicans, and was well liked by them, and by independent voters; he was the most popular Virginia governor in a generation. In a conservative state, like Virginia, that makes him a centrist.

And you always try to rip me for posting on politics, but you always seem to tag along don't you. So who's the bigger fool? Look in the mirror.

Duncan Hunter won't even last until the New Hampshire primary. Not consider a leader by the GOP in the house.

I don't rip you for posting on politics, I just think it is like clockwork. Something you can set your watch to.

With regards to the biggest fool, why that would be the person that didn't work hard and make something out of himself when he was younger, and now that he is a old, unionized coot, is jealous as hell of everyone who earns more than him. His solution, tax that successful guy so that his poor feelings can be assuaged. Yep that fool is none other than you, Falcon, the old jealous man of the midwest.

Why, since you never do. Besides, what gate ramp agent or whatever your job/welfare assistance is called is non-unionized in such a unionized area such as an airport or in Northeast Ohio? I'm not buying that.

Right now, I work in Hub Operations, Tex. I'm assigned to another department, but I work in Ops.

Since when is an honest job "welfare assistance", or is that just a term you use to degrade people whom you think don't make enough $$ for your taste?

At 45 years old? I have a lot of life left in me. I hope in about 30 years Tex can call me "Old Coot" and know what the hell he's talking about.
