Tue Oct 31, 2006 10:06 am

The conservative NY Post endorses the liberal Senator Clinton.

Actually, I posted this, in part, just to bug the crap out of Texdravid.  Big grin But it isn't often an arch-conservative paper endorses a liberal Democrat.

That is endorsing her for the senate. Hell, even I would endorse her over her unknown and inexperienced candidate.

Once thing you can say is that Hillary will bring home the bacon for N.Y. and that is what matters in congressional/senate races. She is also obviously in tune with the socially liberally mores of New York as well.

So, it is actually no surprise that the New York Post endorses her.
It would be a real surprise if the New Fool Times endorses a Republican for President. Then, Hell would freeze over, the Browns would win the Super Bowl, and Falcon would make a donation to the upcoming Dumbya Presidential library in Texas.

Yes, that is the correct spelling for our current loser in chief.

I doubt if Hillary will run for Prez in 2008. She'll probably wait until 2012. She'll be 65 years of age with 12 years in the Senate, and by then the worst of the worst who rant and rave whenever her name comes up will have succumbed to cardiovascular disease, neurological disease or lung cancer (Rush Limbaugh, Grover Norquist, Fallwell and all his ilk).

I think that this line of thinking is absurd. Even if Rush, et. al all kick the proverbial bucket, they will be new conservatives to torture Hillary. Just like there will be new Chuck Schumers and Harry Reids to torture Republicans.

With a wide open race in 2008 (both Repubs and Dems have open fields), and the general poor political climate for Republicans in general, I think Hillary would be a fool to sit it out.

If the Dems win, the winner would be the leader, and Hillary and Bill would be sidelined. If the Republican wins, well, she would be even further from power.
This is her last, best chance.

Too bad the NY Post is nothing but a glorified tabloid and "their" opinion holds little weight if any at all among respected new papers and people who don't have their head planted where the sun don't shine.

I disagree. If a Dem wins in 2008, which seems kind of likely but it will be fun to watch them implode again, then do you think she would challenge the sitting President when he/she/it runs for reelection? 2008 is her time to run otherwise she's locked out until 2016 at the earliest.

The Post endorses the Clinton woman, because her husband is a walking, talking, tabloid newspaper's wet dream.

Bubba's pecadillo's, and his ongoing "we're just friends" relationship with Canadian MP Belinda Stronach, is probably responsible for 5% of the Post's sales.

Gotta keep Hillary around!!!

The only way for a Republican to win the Presidency in 2008 in for the Democrats to run another idiot with high negatives among the political center as a candidate (as they have done for the last 2 elections). Hillary would fit this description quite well, as last I heard her negative rating was in the mid 40th percentile.

Here's a suggestion for all the Dems out there, nominate someone worth voting for!

Republicans nominate idiots, but the Democrats nominate craven left wing idiots .

That's why I vote Libertarian.

A Hillary-Obama ticket in '08 would be unbeatable IMO.

I read their Editorial, and it is very conditional. They hold their nose about her 'liberal' social views and of the War in Iraq, but really it is just that the Republican Canidate is virtually unknown and has no chance to win. It is better to hold an Incumbent and the pork $$$'s they can deliver then to lose that footing with a new person.

Yep.

Now I don't know why anyone would want to be President in 2008. Whoever wins is going to inherit one hell of a mess in Iraq and is going to have to make some very difficult decisions that will probably cost them tremendously.

My predicition is that whoever wins in 08 will only serve one term.

Not a chance in hell of winning.

Hillary has a negatives in the 44+ percentile and Obama would insure that the closet racists in both parties (and there are a bunch in the Democrat party) would push who ever the Republican opponent was over the top.

A little dose of reality is needed here sometimes.

And Obama would not be so stupid as to play second fiddle to some egomaniac fat-ass broad with permanent pms.

Enough about Kathleen Harris already. Go back and tell us how the military should take over the nation.

Not to mention, that Obama has done NOTHING but delivered one excellent speech and passed, what, ONE bill in the Senate?

Yea.. Dem's, run that ticket..

Go right ahead.

Doesn't matter when she runs, this country will never elect her.

The Post endorsing her is not a surprise. The city is hopelessly a Democratic area. Nobody will beat her for senate. Who cares.

If you have to get to your meeting, and you have the choice of driving a 1982 Chevrolet Chevette, that runs, and a 2006 Cadillac Escalade that has been Totalled out in a wreck and not drivable, well, then you HAVE to choose the Chevette.

Same story here, just change the names.
