Your Christmas Shopping So Far...

Tue Nov 07, 2006 7:45 pm

Rhaalich !

So what is the status of your christmas shopping up to now?

I have currently bought nothing and am running into the predicament that I have no idea (rabbit pancake) of what I should get for my family members.

On the other hand, some people I know have everything bought since March/April.

Some stores had decorations up in September. November isn't that far off.

Pff, Statoil er ikke dyrt...  Wink

I have plans for what I'm getting for some people, but that stuff is still available December 1st, so I'd rather get it then. The price should be pretty much the same, but money shouldn't really be a problem this year.  Smile

Well...I pick up things through the year, so I don't end up dropping a wad of cash when Christmas rolls around. Shopping in NYC gets pricey.

I bought my dad some new scale model aircraft of the WWII Era, and one 747 (which I will paint myself) for his first Christmas as a retiree.

I bought my stepmum...nothing yet.

I bought my mum...nothing yet.

I bought my best friend some goofy mess from Kid Robot.

And I'll probably end up taking the rest of my friends and/or family out for dinner and drinks because I honestly have no idea what they want.

Christmas gives me a migraine.

I am done,

All I am waiting for is a purchase from Skymall to come for my mom and the frame to get finished on a cool TWA 707 lithograph I got my dad.

I bought all my other gifts over the summer. I know that sounds odd, but my mom always did that too and I guess I picked it up from her.

I am finished. I didn't catch many sales, but considering the kind of shopping sprees and frenzies expected this year at the stores and malls, I did it early. Since it wasn't a lot anyways.

I have been told not to bother this year by family, or if I really want to, just keep it under £5 per person, and likewise they shall be doing the same. It's not being stingy, but I see not point in having to buy something for somebody who either doesn't want anything, or doesn't know what they want. Hence later on in the year when they find something that they do like, I will buy it for them then as a present.

Shopping is overrated. When the time draws closer, I'll order some presents for people from the Internet and make presents myself for others.

Some might say that this makes me a woman, but I am done. Finished. And have been for a couple of weeks. Why?

Have you ever tried shopping somewhere in Southern California between Thanksgiving and Christmas? Heck, it takes 2 hours just find somewhere to park the car.

So while everyone else is out getting parking-rage and then herded through shopping malls like cows to the slaughter, I'll be sat at home with a beer watching football.

Here's the list of all I have already bought for Christmas:

That's right... nothing, zilch, nada. Funny thing is, now I have more than plenty of time to go shopping, but there's not much I can do with an almost empty bank account. Big grin

Don't expect to see me around that much (if at all) -- the contact link should still work, though.
