Tsunami Cleanup In Thailand?

Thu Nov 09, 2006 6:29 am

I am currently planning a trip to Thailand and will probably visit Phuket. However, I am having difficulty finding anything online stating how they have recovered from the Tsunami. Is it pretty much back to normal? I figure since it is a high tourist area it would be well on it's way.

I would also appreciate any dive operator recommendations in Phuket as well.

Hey, I was home last summer and we went to Phuket for a weekend and stayed in Patong Beach. Everything was returning to normal, most of the businesses were open and mostof the hotels were up and running. There were a few hotels on the northern end of the beach that were still rebuilding, but that was a year ago so I'm sure everything is definitely back to where it was before the tsunami.

I'm staying in Phuket right now. There are some small reminders of the tsunami but the area is well alive. It is absolutely beautiful here so don't hesitate to come for a visit.

I am debating shortening my stay in BKK by one day to stay an extra day here.  Smile Hope this helps.
