Do You Have Toilet Phobia?

Sat Nov 11, 2006 12:11 am

The National Phobics Society estimates at least four million Britons are affected - but the true number could be many more.

In some cases people refuse to leave their homes, and risk their health.

The society has classified the disorder as an anxiety condition in its own right, and is launching a self help book and DVD.

A self-help book? A DVD?

What next? Disability leave?

I used to work with a guy who outright refused to take a dump at work. He would go home every lunch time - a 20 minutes drive - just so he could lay a log. We used to tease him chronically, but upon reading this article, perhaps I should email an apology to him.

Really though...public bogs I can understand; many are nasty. But loos at the office are often cleaner than those at home (because they get cleaned daily).

When it's time 'to drop the kids off at the pool' or 'release the hostages' it's time, I don't have the time for a toilet phobia. Smile

Wow, I work with a woman who is the same....she actually leaves the office and drives home any time she needs to lay a log......she doesn't always go on her lunch. The funny thing is that the company we work for has just been sold...so at the last meeting I mentioned to her quietly - that I wonder if she will be allowed to go home once the new owners take over....hmmm

I'm the same way. Not because I'm afraid of the head but mainly I don't feel the need to subject coworkers to the stench of my ass. I take care of my business first thing in the morning and get rid of it all so I'm not tempted at work. But, if I have to go I'm going to take care of business.

I have to admit, If I'm in public, and i feel the urge to "Take the Browns to the Super Bowl," I'd rather wait until I get home. I just don't like sharing the noises inherent in "growing a tail," and i'm not particularly partial to having other people come in and "cluster bombing" while I'm in there "pointing the pink pistol at the porcelain."

I'm not afraid of the toilet itself. I'm afraid of what it looked like the day before...

I don't have the time to drive home to pinch a loaf. I like taking a dump at work. First off, I am being paid to be at work. Second the toilet paper and water are being paid for by work. It makes economic sense to take a dump at work.

I always try to hold it in; in the morning so I can take a dump at work.

That is one nasty shitter, but my neighbor has you beat. Their tub is so rotted that you can see the back of the siding on their house. I would love to get a photo, but how do you ask your neighbor. "You have the crapiest bathroom I ever saw can I take a picture to show my friends?"...

lol...I remember back in University the big thing was "Upper Decking", in which the supplier would remove the tank cover to the toilet (assuming it's not a power toilet) and 'push brown' in the tank.

The next person would be greeted with a swirl of beef stew and a smell that could kill a wild bore upon flushing.

Cheers,

This thread reminds me of a scene from "The Big Lebowski".

With what I do for a living, public restrooms are something I see everyday. There are people out there who are the nastiest animals you could ever imagine. I suffer physically because I refuse to use these nasty places.

There are people with a--for lack of a better phrase--toilet phobia--and who actually carry their own toilet seats with them. A co-worker had an intern on his morning radio show go to a popular Tampa restaurant, and ask someone to install "her" seat for her...her play-by-play was one of the funniest things I've heard on the radio...

While having the home field advantage is useful, I have no issues w/ going at work. Though in other public places if the facilities aren't up to snuff, I'll hold it in for someplace else.

Now at work, if one of the stalls is already occupied (there are two total), I'll turn tail and come back at a later time.

My cousin was just the opposite when he worked at Krogers. He would wait till he ARRIVED at work to take care of business. His logic was "get paid to poo on company time." Pretty good logic if you're paid by the hour like he was.
