Honda Civic Or CR-V?

Sat Nov 11, 2006 10:39 am

I'm in college right now and my parents have said that they will get me a car. I am pretty excited and it has come down to either the Honda Civic Sedan EX or the Honda CR-V. I built my own on the honda.com website and the prices seem to be about the same (but I know that this changes...). Does anyone here have a 2006 or 2007 Civic or CR-V (The new body styles) and would care to share your opinion? Which one would you guys recommend?

I sell them. The Civic is obviously more of a college kids car. The CR-V is quite functional and drives a little softer. What will you be using the car for? Also what draws you to the Civic sedan over the coupe?

Feel free to email me with any questions.

Well, I live in Longview, TX and I would be driving it to and from Dallas (about 3.5 hours) where my sister goes to school and to my grandma's house in College Station (about 4.5 hours), use it for errands around Longview and just general use. I would tend to like to have 4 doors since they just seem to be much more roomier and provide more space.

I would go with the Civic. But don't disregard the coupe unless you use the back seat a lot. IMHO the coupe handles better and is more fun to drive.

As I said, the new CR-V is a great car. If you need the hauling capacity then go for it, but it does fall into the Jr. Soccer Mom mobile category.

One other thing, if you're looking around the Civic EX price range, you may want to consider the Accord LX Special Edition as well. It has the best ride, most room, and bang for the buck. Also the Civics are kinda hard to come by now and days so the dealers are less reluctant to discount them. Where as the Accords are for the most part plentiful.
