Transportation From LGA To Manhattan

Fri Nov 17, 2006 6:32 am

Hi I'm going to NYC for thanksgiving weekend. I would really appreciate it if someone could tell me what the fastest way of getting to manhattan-chelsea would be (with the subway) ...?

Thanks in advance

Nearest to LGA subway station I'm aware of is over by Shea Stadium, which is a short cab ride. Someone else can give you more info. The stop for Chelsea should be somewhere around 23rd or so.

I'm staying on 27th between 6th and 7th so that stop seems pretty close by ... however the subway doesn't seem to reach LGA !

The closest stops are in Astoria and require a bus transfer

The best way would be to take a cab, car service or shuttle.

I guess that's what we'll end up doing. Could you recommend any bus shuttles? I did search but there are alot, I'm not sure which one is the most reliable and best priced?

I don't know if it will help (I'm a little foggy on the location of Chelsea after being out of the New York metro area for 14 years) but there is a van/shuttle to Grand Central from LGA. Then you can catch whatever subway you need.
Up, up and away!

Just get a taxi. They have flat rates to anywhere in Manhattan. The added expense will make up for the hassle and the pain in the ass of the subway/bus.

Super Shuttle. $15 per person from LGA to Chelsea. If there is more than one of you, take a cab, because it is cheaper.

Actually, the rates from LGA are not flat, rather they are metered. Still, the cost won't go above 25 or so for where he is going.

Is one charged for time sitting in traffic in a taxi? Or is it just the mileage rate?
