NFL Week 10: How'd Your Team Do?

Mon Nov 20, 2006 10:55 am

We're headed around the back turn, and into the final stretch of the NFL season, so give us a run-down of your team.

Despite playing a pretty damn good game, the Browns still haven't figured out how to close the deal, and lost another one they should have won, 24-20 to the hated Steelers in Cleveland.

The frustrating thing is the Browns made no glaring errors, physically beat up on the Steelers for most of the game. The only problem in the 4th quarter is the Defense was on the field, and were completely spent by the end of the game. Big Ben played a marvelous 4th quarter for Pittsburgh, avoiding at least a half dozen sacks, and on most of those, making pin-point passes to usually well-covered receivers.

Frustrationg for Browns' fans. But they ARE getting better. They've improved vastly from the beginning of the year. They have to learn to close out games though.

Your take on this week, as we no longer have any unbeaten teams.

Browns are 3-7, that makes it week 10 for me.  Big grin

Shame about Donvan, btw. I hate seeing anyone like that get a season-ending injury.

Bright side for the Browns was they shut down Charlie Parker, and were opportunistic on defense in the 1st half. Joshua Cribbs had a 92-yard kickoff return for a TD in the 4th quarter.

Dark side: no turnovers on offense, or major gaffes, but no points by the offense except for a field goal. Defense not getting any stops on 3rd down. Offense not getting a first down when they finally got the ball in the 4th quarter, and running out the clock.

Great to see the Steelers pull out the win late after playing a horrendous first half. Roethlisberger put together three clutch fourth-quarter scoring drives. The line gave him time and the receivers made big plays.

4-6 baby. Watch out NFL.  Silly

Since the 49ers beat Seattle, and are in second place in the NFC West, check for mer as well.

This week sucked just like last week and the week before last!

Falcons can't seem to get it on track. The offense has the least excuse for poor performance and the most poor performances.... irritating the hell out of me.

This might be the stat of the week in the NFL: in the 4th quarter, the Steelers picked up NINTEEN first down-in one quarter!

Two of the worst teams in the NFL, the game was a bore, more excitement watching paint dry..Maybe that's why I turned off the game and went to see James Bond.

CHARGERS DEFEAT BRONCOS!!!!!

Final score in Denver tonight- 35 to 27!

All kinds of records were broken tonight by the Chargers:

  • First time in NFL history that a team has won 4 consecutive games in which they gave up more than 24 points.
  • First time in NFL history that a team has come back to win consecutive games when behind by more than 17 points.
  • Ladainian Tomlinson becomes the fastest player to reach 100 TDs, achieving it tonight in his 89th game.
  • Ladainian Tomlinson also continues his record for most TDs in a xxx-game span, making his current record 19 TDs in the last 6 games.

Philip Rivers came through again, going 19-for-26 with 2 TDs, though he did get a little roughed up for 2 INTs. LT, besides the records he broke above, had 105 rush yards and 74 receiving yards, by far his best performance ever at Denver.

Antonio Gates came through late in the game, and our defense, while giving up over 24 points for the 4th straight game, held Denver to only a field goal in the second half to allow the comeback...

On most weeks I would agree, but this week I think the stat of the week belongs to the Dolphins. The had -3 yards rushing and still won.

I was lucky enough to be at Texas stadium yesterday, A.netters, for the 'Boys vs. the Colts!!

It was a great day (about 63 degrees) and the place was packed.
The Cowboy defense finally showed up and rattled Peyton Manning a little. Holding the Colts to 14 points was amazing.

Once again, Tony Romo has saved Parcells' butt big time!! I hope this lights a fire and puts the Cowboys firmly back into the playoff chase.

My Niners beat Seattle, although they made it very interesting in the last minute (fumble, get ball back on int., missed field goal). Even as a 49'ers fan I never would have guessed we'd be .500 this late in the year and have a wild-card chance.

Watch out St. Louis, your next..  Big grin

P.S. Have a happy and safe thanksgiving all!!!

Well my Colts finally lost but I'm alomst glad that they did. The whole sit back and then rally in the 4th while exciting is not the ideal means of building a chamionship team. There is no question that they were always gonna be tops of the AFC South but that's really a minor accolade at this point. I think this loss might be enough to get Dungy to do some retooling. Hoepfully it will be enough to push the Colts all the way to the big show this year... hoepfully.

Even with this loss, the Browns lead the series against the Steelers 56-52!
The Browns/Steelers rivalry has become very frustrating for the Browns fans. I think out of the last 22 games, the Steelers have won 19!

With than said, i still love the Browns! They're #1 in my book.
