Thu Nov 23, 2006 6:28 am

I am after a PDA that doubles as a GPS/Sat-Nav.

Does anybody have any suggestions.

Thanks

HP Ipaq 69 and 65 series will do that. They also make good phones. The 69 series even has wifi built in.

If you like the Tom-Tom product, it's available for these as well.

Product is awesome...full PDA with all the capabilities of a PDA you'd expect, plus killer GPS capability.

It's a pretty simple set up. All you need is a PDA, GPS receiver and the PDA Software.

Do a search on Ebay and you'll find plenty of stuff. I know Destinator make software for PDAs, but beware you will most likley need a PDA which uses Windows Mobile. That basically excludes Palms and Sony Clies

I went into PC World to look what they offer and asked about Sat nav on a PDA and they said I just need to buy a sat nav product like TomTom Navigator 6.

Seem a good Idea to me.

What PDA's with Windows Mobile do you recommend?

I bought an AVIC-N2 for my car. It's an in-dash Navigation unit, that you can get accesories for to jazz it up over time. It is XM ready, so all you need is the tuner, which you can pick up for $100.00 You can add a "back-up camera if you have it in a SUV, so you can see what is behind you as you are parking. You can also add a TV tuner. It also plays DVD's, so if you put in aux. screens, people can enjoy movies on the road....Great unit. I love mine. It's bailed my ass outa trouble more than a few times trying to find places. It has over 1,000,000 points of interest...I love it.

Pioneer makes it.

The new AVIC-N3 is out now.

OK, I'll slightly change the thread a bit, I am going to buy the TomTom Navigator 6 and then I need a PDA.

Which PDA's Do you recommended?

Has anybody had any experiences with Acer?

Would you buy the PDA from Dell, because they look quite good?

And I also want a Lowepro Computrekker but the cheapest I can find them is £89 on 7dayshop.

And this is all for christmas and my parents have said that they will on spend £200-£250

I've never used an Acer PDA, but I have used other Acer hardware. It's pretty good.

I have just switched from my Dell PDA to a PDA phone, but the Dell PDA that I had - an Axim X3 - was/is superb (but I'm still going to ebay it this weekend). Nice and fast, great screen brightness and resolution, excellent battery time, good range on wifi and bluetooth, and feels solidly built.

Just seen the Asus MyPal A730W on the net and thought it looked very good, but I can't find a price and place that sells them.

Was never happy with my HP ipaq, as if the battery went totally flat it wiped the GPS software. The battery would go after about 90 mins if left uncharged, which is not that long. Argued with HP for a year until it was off warranty and thereafter not their problem.

Fujitsu-Siemens Pocket LOOX N560. Or N520/N500, if you don't need VGA screen and wi-fi.
