"Mysterious Light In Sky Made Motorists Stop..."

Mon Nov 27, 2006 3:28 am

*Unbelievable...*

According to Norway's biggest selling newspaper, VG, a light phenomenon in the sky above Haugerud, Oslo, Norway, got a lot of attention from people on the ground.

Eyewitness Lill Signe Larsen, who was among many who contacted the newspaper, said "It was just unbelievable! At Skedsmokorset (a location) the light was so bright, people were pulling over and getting out of their cars to look at it."

Norway's most profiled astronomer, Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, was contacted, and asked to give his opinion on what this phenomenon might be. And he didn't take long to reach his conclusion.

Before I tell you what it was, have a look at an exclusive photo, taken from one of the witnesses:

That's right... A photo which the a.net screeners would have rejected, before it had even been taken...

I know most people may not know as much about aviation as us who roam this website, but for crying out loud... What on earth did they think it was!?
Must have been a slow newsday. And just for the record, The astronomer, Knut Jørgen Røed Ødegaard, got the explanation right...

There was a thread here recently about a similar sighting carried on the local television news in Seattle. The news-monkeys went on about the suspicious nature of the "government story" of it being a contrail.

What frakkin' planet have these people been living on? I see contrails looking just like these far more often than I see palm trees but I don't call the television station when I see a palm tree.
Happiness is not seeing another trite Ste. Maarten photo all week long.

Forgive them, they are Norwegian after all  duck

It is a pretty dumb mistake to make though, if it was just one tiny spot then understandable, but not a long strip. They should remember that UFO's are round, like saucers  yes

Sounds more like the real deal to me, as they suggest in the article a meteorite.

Excert;

It couldve been space debris falling to earth, I remember reading somewere i think it was in the range of 100 tonnes of space debris falls to earth each year and only 1 tonne ever survives, the majority of that lands in the ocean.
Sorry i cant back that up with a source as i read it, but im sure it was something along them lines.

Definitely chemtrails. Too bad for you Thomas, now you are being brainwashed by your government and the evil corporations and of course, George Bush. It's been happening here for quite some time now.

I just made myself a new tinfoil hat and I suggest you do the same immediately.

It looks like some defunct satellite falling down to earth and getting burned up.

There is a lot of debris floating out there, mostly old satellites which have ended their active service lives. Infact, such satellite falls can be dangerous. There was an incident when a former Soviet satellite with a nuclear reactor on board fell over Canada, scattering Nuclear waste over a wide area.
Never argue with idiots. They will bring you down to their level, and beat you with experience.

I am sublimely uninterested in embroidery (since you mentioned hooping) but I am also aware that there is such a thing as an embroidery machine. I think I might even recognize one if I saw it. More to the point, if I saw one alongside the road I don't think I'd stomp the brake pedal with both feet and
point (gasping) with both hands.

Also, maybe I'm weird but my field-of-view does not end at the horizon. Even when I'm looking at the road ahead, I do see a bit of sky now and then.

No, these people are stupid. They might be nice folks. They may be charming, they may even play a harpsichord but they are stupid. There is no way they could have been living on this planet for X years and never have seen a contrail in the setting sun before. If there is a tribe of indigenous folk in the wilds of the Amazon or some such place that is not otherwise aware of the modern world, they have still seen contrails.

All of my "aviation illiterate" friends and associates would have recognized a contrail in an instant.
