Throughout the entire weekend, we've had nothing but problems with the broadband connection here. The receive and the send lights would constantly blink and according to the manual, it happens when the modem tries to establish a connection. Since friday evening, the connection would be dropping many times throughout the day.
We've called our ISP and they say they have no problems on their end. Later we called the cable modem service distributor, Amnet (remember that here in Costa Rica, the state holds a monopoly on all things regarding telecommunications) and all they told us is to power cycle both modem and router. The curious thing is that every time we do that with the CSR from Amnet on the phone, it would stay connected but after a few minutes, it would drop yet again. As far as the cables go, they are all properly connected.
My connection is now up for the time being, but I'm worried about it crapping out again. I doubt that it's the modem (a Motorola Surfboard SB5120) though, because this happened already twice before this weekend and it would sort itself out without any power cycles (and as I said, power cycling didn't work they way we expected), yet it seems to me that Amnet doesn't want to admit that there may be an outage on their feed. In any case, we'll talk with our computer technician to evaluate further and on the spot.
Anyone know what could be the problem?
