Anyone have one of these and if you do how do you like it?

I am thinking of asking the wife for one.

I'd get one if it made more sense to how I live, but it doesn't.

I have a friend in Egypt who says it works pretty well, getting US tv, but I haven't seen it in person yet.

This is something I'm very interested in, so please someone post who has seen it. Is the picture quality good?

Several of my friends here in Europe have them and the work pretty well. Just make sure you have a good point of contact on the "home" end for maintainence and such.

Yes, I have one of these so I can watch Premiership games when I'm at the office. I've only had it a couple of months, but I've not had any problems with it whatsoever.

The quality is going to depend on your upload speed at wherever the TV is. I have 1024 up, so the quality I get at the office is really quite good...some graining, but not much buffering and very rarely do I get interruption. When I do, it's normally because the missus is surfing the net at home or something.

As for the home maintenance stuff, there is none. The documentation is very clear on how to set it up, and if you can't figure it out from that, they have a support number you can call. I've never had to; this thing is monkey-see-monkey-do simple.

The missus is in the UK, correct?

Do you have to watch the same channel the missus is watching? Can you both change channels separately? How does that work?

Can you be a little more specific with describing the quality, like, for instance, could you show a room full of people a premiership game via slingbox on a bigscreen - or is the quality only suitable for a pc monitor?

Thanks!

No, we are both in California. Although, I did use it when we were in England on holiday to watch an episode of Lost.

My digital tuner at the house has support for two TVs. I use the second TV support for the slingbox, so whatever is being watched on the main television at the house is effected if I change channels on Slingbox. I can only change the channel on the tuner output that Slingbox is connected to. I can not change the channel that the TV at the house is watching.

I've expanded my viewing screen to 1024 x 768 resolution a few times, and the quality has deteriorated slightly, but still very watchable. However, if you wanted to show something on a big screen, you could maintain the quality by setting your monitor display to 640 x 480 and then using a VGA scan converter to send to the TV. You'll loose a bit of picture definition, but it won't be terrible.

I have family in the UK, and I have an extra TiVo and a Slingbox setup at home that they use exclusively. Getting it up and running was a royal pain in the a** but now that it is up, I/they have no problems with it.

It sounds great to me. I understand from IFE that using it on a bigger screen should work.

Is there anyone out there who has had actual experience using Slingbox to trasnport programming around the world - and who has actually watched the programming on a standard large tv (32' or bigger?)?

Just to confirm, you can, from your remote location, change channels? Or does the channel that your 2nd tuner is on when you leave for work in the morning become the only channel you can watch?

I have Slingbox Pro, so I can change channels, set DVR to record, pause, rewind, watch previously recorded programmes from DVR etc.
