Kaagbaan Farewell AMS Meet - APR07? Lets Plan

Sun Dec 03, 2006 5:49 am

Welcome to the spring meeet thread! Visiting the famous spotting place in AMS before its closed down is a necessity, so lets make up a date.

If we are not to meet on 07-08 April, when then? Later or sooner?

I don't mind whatever date you pick, as long as it is announced somewhat in advance so I can arrange days off. Yes, I'll be driving... though preferably not to a restaurant in Amsterdam unless it is somewhere on the outskirts.

p.s. Kaagbaan is with 4 A's.  Wink

Apparantly you did. The spot alongside the Kaagbaan will be turned into cargo apron and warehouses. The plans are to expand the (Martinair) cargo area all the way to the N201.

Lets set up the date of the meet on 15th/16th April 2007.

Also would be nice to stay all in the same hotel, as we did in BCN during last meeting, so if somebody has some idea, please share with us...

The NH hotel is very nice and not too expensive. If you visit my site (www.schipholspotter.com, for both of you that did not know yet) you can find a map with hotels. The hotel is at #3, so close to the Kaagbaan threshold. In fact, in half an hours walk you could go to the official Kaagbaan spot, just 10 minutes for the final approach.

I'd love to go if it was in August... i know I can most likely get time off... for me, I'm taking a week off in the first week of January, and then some college visits in Feb/ Mar. i know work would not let me go unless... It is on a tuesday / wednesday and I return on Thursday and work a later shift? I dont know...

As someone has already mentioned, many of us will be in Iceland that weekend (KEF meet is in April 13th-16th).

I am pretty sure many of us attending the KEF meet would also be up for a meet in AMS.

I am really interested in attending this time since I have always made plans and changed my mind in the last minute (CPH, ZRH and BCN come to mind).

Have mercy of us poor souls! Big grin

One little piece of information: at the end of March the average maximum temperature in De Bilt - where the Royal Dutch Meteorological Institute is based - is 11.3 degrees Celsius. At the end of April, its almost 15 degrees.

What kind of excuse is that. If you want to go plane spotting in the Netherlands, then you are likely to see a lot more planes at AMS then you will see at SXM. Really, SXM has little to offer that NL does not offer itself.

What kind of excuse is that. If you want to go plane spotting in the Netherlands, then you are likely to see a lot more planes at AMS then you will see at SXM. Really, SXM has little to offer that NL does not offer itself.

I have another reason for that trip, it´s inaugural flight od Delta Air Lines from Atlanta to Prague, which will be on 2nd May, and we´d like to arrive to Prague onboard...So from SXM we plan to move to Atlanta and attend this first flight...

Sooo, I hope the 30.3/1.4 date will win for AMS meet Wink

So you'd rather fly Delta then visit the AMS meet?

To each their own I suppose. Big grin

I´ll be there...Count with me.
About a date. It should be a weekend..so week later after? 15/16th August?
I can´t come 22/23 April and 29/30 April...(due to another trip)..

Sorry won't be able to make it. I have final exams (6 months) in May. The only meet I'd be able to attend would be an eventual ZRH meet before March . What a shame ; I miss those meets and AMS is such am amazing place for spotting
Sorry
