Vincenzo Iaquinta and 20 other Italian football players are now under investigation for placing illegal bets on Serie A football games. The Prosecutor's office in Udine suspects that these players have placed bets through a middle man on 4 games for a total of €700,000 and that for these bets, four games were manipulated through the last 4 years.
The Financial Police says that Iaquinta has been found to have placed bets for €1000, while others have placed much higher bets, along with them Marco Ferrante from Pescara, who's bet was €170,000. The games under investigation for manipulation all ended in ties. Since Autumn of last year, a general ban on football players placing sports bets has been in place.
