The New LHMarkmobile Is Going In The Shop

Wed Dec 06, 2006 11:17 pm

Check this, the brand new 2007 Honda Element that I picked up three weeks ago has to go in for service already. A loud clunking noise has developed somewhere in the front suspension or brakes when I drive at city speeds (it vanishes at highway speeds).

Jesus, all I wanted was for the car not to break before we've actually entered the same calendar year as its model year.

That sucks.

Is it me, or is the quality of new cars going down? I've had my new Malibu in several times for adjustments and part replacement.

From what i recall, surveys done show quality is going up. Utter B.S. if you ask me !!

I feel your pain/anger/disappointment, Mark.

Thats what you get for rolling in a Honda Element. You were better off in your Beetle.

I've never been a fan of the Element....

But for crying out loud..Honda is known for it's quality, isn't it??? Not good at all. I do hope they're paying for the service!

Ok!

Towed:

I parked outside my hotel, in between 2 other cars, no notices were visible at 3am in the morning...

Broken Down:

I had my car checked over a few days before

Been pulled over:

I wasnt doing anything wrong! A friend was following behind, we was driving slow, not to loose each other and looking for a Tesco or something at the same time, I got pulled over because the nice police man thought i was either drunk or very lost, which was neither!

Broken the lock on the boot:

I don't know how I done this, fixable though

Had to get a replacement part:

This was on a different day, getting the part that broke a few days previous fixed...

What Luck I have! All this on the day i was trying to get to a muse gig!

Boots over here must have a different connotation.....has to do with illegal parking, etc, and the meter maids/tow truck puts a metal hub cap looking thing that has a metal prong attached to it that keeps the vehicle from moving. I'd actually be quite impressed if one could get the boot off without the specific wrench-type tool needed to do that.....

Kaz's reference to the "boot" would be a reference to the "trunk" over here where we speak the more sensible version of English.

And by the way, I think this is just one more strong piece of evidence that karma does exist.  Smile

ANC, you say that now, but my Element is the Swiss army knife of cars, and I can even parallel park in in a tight city space!

Plus, I think it's strangely beautiful in its own...haunting...way.

So can I, after the BAFDT crushes the cars in my way.

Those wheels look terrible though... Come on, if you're driving around in that thing, at least opt for the alloy wheels.

Do you keep tying Nancy to the front wheels while driving around, to keep the front passenger seat from getting soiled? Maybe that's it.
I dumped at the gybe mark in strong winds when I looked up at a Porter Q400 on finals. Can't stop spotting.

Yeah, well, after browsing through all the stolen German cars in Warsaw, he probably has a better handle on design aesthetic than I do.

Are you related somehow to Chris Bangle and your preferences of design?

I would smuggle in car parts or Ukrainian women in a Honda Element to Poland. The first reason being that I can guarantee no one would steal that vehicle.

It's fixed. A nut was loose on one of the lower suspension arms.
