Attn: All RED SOX FANS, And Others Too!

Fri Dec 08, 2006 10:11 am

I am a die hard red sox fan, but I can not stand Mr. Mike Timlin. Terry Francona is pretty much an "idiot" on my list. Also, those two other pitchers we have that I will not mention because I can not spell there names, but you know the ones that end in the letter -Z. It is time for some reform with the Sox. They were doing great pre all star game, then they were pethetic. I was at one of the yankees games when they swept the sox, the one that was the longest nine inning game, ..., ever. The game when the "T" stopped running in the sixth inning. What do you guys think the Sox need this next year.

As of now I'm a "wicked" confused Red Sox fan after reading this post.

PS. Who would we be without the best RED SOCK around, Mr. Jerry Remy?

Francona is less of an idiot than that "I got lucky in 2004 and all I got was this silly GM job" jackass Theo Epstein... this guy has made exactly one productive move (Schilling). Trading Bronson Arroyo after signing him at a discount (because he wanted to play in Boston) made me physically ill.

Francona had to overuse certain pitchers (Papelbon, Timlin) simply because they didn't have anyone else.

They need pitching, as does every other baseball team on this planet, regardless of league.

Not being able to move Manny may end up being an interesting proposition, especially if their 3-4-5 hitters end up being Ortiz-Manny-Drew.

They do need a 2B (although Cora could play there, I suppose), and might need to flip-flop Youkilis between 1B and 3B platooning with Ortiz and Lowell respectively.

If you like half-assed efforts you guys are gonna love J.D. Drew. They wasted a ton of money on somebody that's going to start tip-toeing anytime he's within 20 feet of the right field warning track.

That is, of course, if he's even playing. He has a great habit of spending most of his time on the DL.

I will have to agree, I used to think of Timlin as a dependable okay reliever in 03' and a little of 04', but come 05' eeekkk, and last year? Well in Aug is when I wondered if Manny had shared some of stash with Terry, why would you pt Timlin in if you don't have a 5 run lead? Although I still like Terry, but Timlin is a soar spot for me, why they picked up the option is beyond me. I however like Julian Tavarez. He is a nut, not only mentally but in his mechanics, but I thought at the end of last year he could pull off some good outings, and I see him as a good starter alternate. I also like Snyder, hope he just doesn't get sent back down again.

I feel good about 07. Good starting 5:

Schilling
Matzusaka (We'll see about that still)
Beckett
Papelbon
Wakefield

Alternates:
Lester
Tavarez
maybe Snyder, but I'd doubt seeing him get the opportunity
Clement (is not seeing a pitch until Sept if that)

Bullpen:
Bunch of sophs, but should look good with:
Delcarmen
Hansen
Okajima
associated alternates should be interesting still lacking a closer though.....

Lineup looks good:
Lugo SS
Youkilis 1B
Ortiz DH
Manny LF
Drew RF
Lowell 3B
Varitek C
Crisp CF
Pedroia 2B

Bench:
Pena (now if he can open his eyes when swinging and learn depth percepetion, he'd be the best bench player in the league, even could maybe replace Coco)
Cora (pretty good anywhere.)

Sox lookin good, just need a backup Catcher, and some more pitching and we are good to go!

I agree. Francona, IMO, is a good manager, but the Arroyo trade, for a player you didn't need  vomit

Am I the only one worried about Papelbon moving to starter? I understand Closer pitches more games, but a starter more innings, so how is his shoulder going to hold up?

Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.

He a good manager, OK. But when you are watching a game, and you think to yourself, " We will win as along as he doesn't...," TF will be the one to do the "doesn't" part. After Jimi got fired, they put the previuos pitching coach in as manager, they should have given a chance for a whole season, I think he could have done something good to the club.

The AL East powerhouses (Yanks and BoSox) are screwed because here come the Jays! Yes, I'm optimistic, as I am most years. Even though we have no 4 and 5 guys, we'll still win the division. It's the rise of the north, Mr. Thomas will be pulling them out over the Green Monster all year long.

I have faith, even though our payroll is half to a third of the Yanks and BoSox I'm looking back to our glory years being '92/'93 and hoping for a repeat. I think we have a pretty potent offense, and 3 good pitchers, but 3 good pitchers isn't like the Yanks and BoSox 5 good pitchers.
