So far so good for us (we just had the system installed a couple of months ago), except that their billing people seem to be a bit out in left field.
You asked for it, so here we go.
Initial install and first six months or so of service in our condo we owned at the time were fine. It wasn't a huge place so when we were expecting our first child we bought a larger house about a mile away. We called ADT and asked for them to install a new system in the house and transfer the service. They charged and we paid a reasonable fee for this and a tech came out and installed the equipment. So far all is good.
A few weeks go by and my wife accidentally sets off the alarm and can't remember her password when ADT calls. They're polite but tell her they have to send the police since she doesn't have it. Things seem to be OK
. 20-30 minutes later, I've made it home and still no police. I'm a little concerned so I call them and they assure me that they have called the police.
So, I call the police and ask what's up - turns out they were dispatched to our old address. Mystery solved, no harm done so I call ADT and remind them that they need to change the service address. They assure me it won't happen again and if this had been the end of the mistakes we would have been fine; unfortunately it was just the beginning.
Condensing things a bit, they are very good at changing the billing address but were completely unable to change the service/dispatch address. I called them literally dozens of times, I talked to all levels of managers, etc., tried nice and not nice, sent requests in writing, etc. They just couldn't get it right although each time I was assured that all was taken care of for good.
The final straw came when I was out of town and we had a prowler. My wife saw him and hit the panic button on the alarm to have the police sent. You guessed it, they were dispatched to our old condo. At this point, I gave up on them and let them know by phone and in writing that I considered our contract void for non-performance on their part.
They never replied so I assumed that this was the end of it. My intention was to switch to another alarm company but then I accepted a job in another state and haven't lived in a place where I'd need an alarm since.
One final minor insult, they sent a bill collector after us last year. Pretty damn arrogant considering how they handled things. This seems to have gone away following a letter from my attorney but it's hard to be sure with these idiots.
