Jefferson Re-Elected In Louisiana

Mon Dec 11, 2006 7:44 am

Louisiana's politics never cease to amaze me.

First, the city of New Orleans re-elects that worthless Mayor of theirs after all the  redflag  over Katrina.

Now they re-elect Mr. Jefferson - caught on tape accepting bribes and storing $90KUS in his freezer.

 boggled

Oh wait, ANC,

someone here will defend not only the voters, but Jefferson himself..

just give it a few minutes...

BTW, on the same topic,

YET ANOTHER member of the Ford Family, yes, the same Ford Family of Harold Ford Jr, former Tennessee Senate Candidate, was arrested last week for MORE bribery chargers. He was on the Memphis City Council. Yet TN almost voted a family member into the Senate. What is it with Democrats? How is it that they can preach "ethics" with a straight face and elect such criminals?

Dont make this a party debate. If I remember correctly someone on the other side of the house was trying to get a male teenage page into his pants. So if you think any side is clean. You are mistaken.

I don't know why you're so shocked. And mind you, it's not just the Dems that lack ethics; all of these politicians are lower than a cobra's belly. As far as defending the voters, eff 'em. They voted him in; ain't democracy a wonderful thing?

Speaking of wacky election results, what's Marion Barry up to these days?

I don't know why you are surprised. The idiot voters in one congressional district in Florida elected impeached judge Alcee Hastings, despite the fact that when he was a United States District Court judge for the Southern District of Florida from 1979 to 1989, he was impeached and removed from office for corruption and perjury.

I am not surprised. Hell folks probably thought he was related to Tommy Jefferson someway. I am appalled by all this BS. Similar things going down in Alaska as well with some shady legislators. Including the son of current US Senator Ted Stevens AK-R. Both sides of the aisle are dirty. It is time for a viable third party. The only thing the Dems and GOP can agree on is keeping a third party from becoming viable.

Should I send you an e-mail offering a kickback for your RU vote?  rotfl

I really wanna see how this plays out with ole Benny Boy . . . you KNOW he didn't run again to keep the skeletons as deep in his closet as possible . . . I can only hope the FBI nails his ass to the wall . . . and that his Father has the integrity to leave it alone if it happens.

Ummmm, unlike Mr. Jefferson, Foley was kicked out of Congress via the Republicans...

Tom Delay also left, after his issues, if not yet ever prosecuted...

William Jefferson is simply following the Democratic model, set by Cynthia McKinney, and others that break the law and continue to serve.

There is a difference. I never said the Republicans all have clean noses, they just tend to leave office if so indited/convicted. Democrats stay in and blame it on something, race, hate mongering, whatever... So yes, it is a party debate.

Please, don't insult our intelligence by defending this joke of a politician by saying "oh, you can't make this a party thing..."

The hell I can't... look at the facts and history and you'll see.. Democrats stay in office while the Republicans leave...

Correction, Foley resigned the Republicans didn't kick him out.

Charges still pending in Texas...

No charges were ever filed. (Wondering if the cop say or did something that we don't know about??)
Quite frankly, both sides have individuals who are ethically challenged.

Oh.. Ok.. I stand corrected... So please tell me why William Jefferson couldn't do the same??

Yea.. come talk to me when he actually is prosecuted...

Yep... you're right, no charges..

I guess you're also right in the fact that whatever the cop allegedly said or did, according to you gave her the right to punch a cop.

I guess the next time I'm pulled over and the cop tells me I'm an idiot for speeding, even though I knew the law, I could punch him because of what he said.

Really? That's your defense to Mrs. McKinney? The Cop SAID something to her that gave her the right to PUNCH him? Humm.. I thought everything that was said/done was out in the open.

I guess the same case could me made for Mr. Jefferson.... we really CAN'T relate the $100,000 he was FILMED taking as a bribe to the $90,000 in cash he made the military take him back to recover from his freezer, now can we? I mean, really, we don't know "what was said or done" in this case, do we???? Shoot, for all we know, that $100K he took was donated to the Ronald McDonald house, right? I mean, no one ever DIDN'T see him donate that money, right? So how do we know he didn't???

Geeezee...

give me a break.

Nope its not my defense, and I not supporting Ms. McKinney, but somewhere in all the paperwork, was some reason for the prosecuting attorney NOT to file charges  expressionless

Charges have been filed and he is being prosecuted, just waiting trial, defense attorneys are famous for delaying cases..  boggled

Can't tell you why Mr. Jefferson hasn't resigned, perhaps he thinks he not gulity of anything. Seem to remember a congressman from South Dakota that was prosecuted for manslaughter and didn't resigned until after the conviction.
