Peter Boyle was a LaSalle Grad. He was commencement speaker at LaSalle in 1994, and when he came up to the lecturn to speak, the students yelled out "Putting on the Ritz!" he smiled and repsonded like Frankenstein in Young Frankenstein. As much as I loved him in Everybody Loves Raymond, I loved him even more in Young Frankenstien.

You will be missed.

His portrayal of Saint Joe McCarthy in "Tail Gunner Joe" is superb.

I never did quite get into "Everyone Loves Raymond", but the role that Peter Boyle played that I most admired was that of beleagured union boss Max Graham in the movie "FIST". Sylvester Stallone was the lead in that movie made in 1978.

I'm saddened to hear the news about Peter Boyle. He was one of my favorite actors. He was PERFECT in Everybody Loves Raymond. I can't imagine how his tv wife, Marie, would take his death. So sad.. In memory of Mr. Boyle.

The best was a few weeks back on Everybody Loves Raymond did the Holloween episode and he dressed up as Frankinstein (suttle humor) to give out the candy to the kids.....and ended up giving out condoms.

Didn't he just make an Alka Seltzer commercial? It was a remake of the old 1960's ad where he says, "I can't believe I ate that whole thing."

Sad but not a big surprise; he'd been looking more gaunt and sickly in recent seasons of "Raymond" and looked particularly ill doing a walk-on on Comedy Central's "Mind Of Mencina" about a year ago. It was easy to see he was on the way out; I'm surprised he was only 71. Anyone know what the cause of death was; the article didn't say? Anyway, yes, he'll be missed a lot.  Sad

No secret I don't care for sitcoms, but this guy cracked me up . . . just the look on his face sometimes with his old lady running around - the typical busy body mother-(in-law).

Mr Boyle was a Veteran of the United States Navy.

Salute, Sir.  tombstone

Sad day for the world of comedy. That USAToday article referenced his Emmy-winning guest appearance on The X-Files, that episode remains one of my favorites to this day. Boyle was a master of the dead-pan humor, one of the toughest comedy styles to master. R.I.P. Sir Boyle.

Sad to hear this news.

----

After Marie has backed the car into Raymonds house:
Frank: "I told you you should have let me drive!"
Marie: "Oh nonsense Frank, you can't see anything without your glasses."
Frank: "I CAN SEE A HOUSE!!"

----

He will be missed.
