I was first introduced to Krispy Kremes some years ago in California. Imagine my delight when i discovered they were being sold over here. You can them in all the Tesco stores locally as well as a few other places. although strangely over here the police don't seem to have discovered them as yet.....

My increasinlgy Homeresque waistline confirms that I have put away plenty in one session

I like Donuts in general, Krispy Kreme, Dunkin', or otherwise.

I'm not a big fan of glazed donuts. I'm a huge fan of those sugared donuts filled with raspberry jam. At this time of year, I enjoy the Krispy Kreme Cran-Apple Donut with a Grande Decaf No-Whip Extra Hot Peppermint Mocha from The Evil Starbucks Coffee Company.

The key to Krispy Kreme is eating it when it is hot and fresh.
The stores have neon signs to indicate when they are fresh from the oven.

That said I'll say KK has the glazed doughnuts wrapped up while DD has those great big apple fritters that are so good. To each his own.

Yep. There is a KK store 5 minutes from my house and I get misty eyed when I drive by and see the Hot Now! sign turned on. Sadly, I have decent self control and steer away to try and save my health.

I've had them a few times when they first came out in the UK, but after discovering the amount of hydrogenated vegetable oil used in them, quickly gave them up as I was trying to reduce my intake of transfats where possible.

Now I only have them very occasionally. My favourite though is Chocolate Ice filled custard........... drool   yummy

Then cut all fat from your diet because it might cause heart disease or cut all alcohol from your diet because it might make you a drunk or give you liver damage. Better yet cut oxygen from your lifestyle because it might contain pollution.

Here's a crazy little thought for you...everything in moderation, including moderation. Get off the soapbox and enjoy life a little bit. Caffiene isn't going to kill you once in a while.

Back to the doughnut debate...anyone every have the Key Lime Filled one from Krispy Kreme? Delicious!

While the South is considered Krispy Kreme territory, Dunkin' Donuts has got quite a few locations down here. There's more DD locations than KK locations in the Atlanta area.

You really can't compare Krispy Kreme's doughnuts with Dunkin' Donuts. While both companies offer similar styles, KK is best known for their yeast-based fried doughnuts, while DD is best known for their cake-based, baked doughnuts.

My favorite KK doughnut is the chocolate iced glazed.

We have had dohnuts here in Aus for centuries??
Crispy kreme on the other hand opened its first outlet here in Sydney 2 to 3 years ago and people went beserk. They lined up for hours as if they had never layed eyes on a dohnut before. I just do not understand. They are full of sugar, full of fat and they are 4 times the price of donuts we buy from the bakery. Give me an ice cold beer any day.

There was one on my walk from the Chatswood train station to my client's office. It was everything I could do to avoid walking in there and coming out with a dozen to nibble on while I walked the 10 minutes down the street. I finally gave up and went in and bought 2 of them to go with my coffee. It was nice getting a bit of home all the way Down Under.

I wonder what it is with KK donuts and airports? There are four KK outlets at SYD (YSSY), one in the international terminal, two in the domestic terminals, and a stand alone shop on the other side of the airport boundary (just outside the domestic terminals!) from the office.

It seems to me that the KK formula has changed slightly over the years. I had KK donuts for the first time when I was in New Orleans in 1993. I remember that the actual donut itself was crispy with a much lighter glaze of sugar on top. Then now seem to be a much softer donut with a far thicker layer of sugar glazing  Confused .

We usually by-pass the KK outlets and go to the local bakery in the next suburb to get Chicken Chilli rolls for lunch. A delicious feed without nearly as much damage as a few KK donuts  bigthumbsup !

I love them, although I wouldn't go as far as to say I was addicted, haven't had one in a few months, (but I'm going to America next week, so might invest in some then) I got hooked on them while I was in America, Las Vegas to be exact, and the hotel which we walked through had the machine that made them fresh, and so we tried some straight off the machine, that's the best way, not such a huge fan of the ones they sell in the shelfs at Tesco.
For some reason, they seem to be better in American than here, don't know why.

In Hawaii the only one is on Maui and right next to the airport. A few airlines instituted a carry on limit of 5 dozen because of excessive doghnuts on board. I read this back before I joined A.net in Time magazine I believe. When my dad and I were heading down to HA last March I mentioned it to him, he laughed and I dont think he thought I was serious.
When we were standing in the security line, and almost everyone had a bag with five boxes of a dozen. We both cracked up at the sight.

Krispy Kreme couldn't ever understand why they were so popular, but they went bankrupt here in Arizona, so one could say that Arizona is a Krisipy Kreme free zone.

ACTUALLY.... Krispy Kreme itself did NOT go bankrupt BUT.....the company that ran the stores (franchisee) went bankrupt. AFAIK, they spent all the profits on something other than benefiting Krispy Kreme. They were doing so well in business, yet I dont understand why these franchisee folks put them out of business. It upset not only their employees but also their customers!

I dont get some people when they make bad business decisions.

The PHX Krispy Kreme employees never saw this coming, came to work and found out they were locked out, no warning...no nothing. I hear a class-action lawsuit is pending since they never got their final paychecks.
