When you have your reservations in hand, stick a note in here and we can add that next to your name (as above).

Perhaps we should all plan to gather at O'Sheas again, about 7pm or so on Friday night, like we did last year. Easy to find, a lot of us already know where it is, right next to Flamingo, and that seemed to work well last year.

See everyone in March!

Ahem, I have an announcemnt to make.... I will be able to attend this Las Vegas meet!

The only limiting factor will be money, so I won't be staying at any fancy hotels. Plus, I'll probably buy a ticket instead of non-reving since everybody who flies to Vegas arrives on a Friday and leaves on a Sunday.

Make it me + 1. My friend is mainly there for the Nascar thing (and I wouldn't miss it, either,) but also doesn't mind debauchery, and will be attending dinner—wherever that will be. This is the same friend I had with me last year.
Two all beef patties, special sauce, lettuce, cheese, pickles, onions on a sesame seed bun.

I think I'll stay longer than a day this time. I'm shooting for 2 days perhaps 3 days 2 nights.

I will need the break when it comes. I've got two other trips to Lost Wages planned 4 the first 6 mos of the yr already planned so it's wait and see as to how much time I'll have available.

Pep....advise we break up the segments again as was done last year to have people sign up for different things we can do.

Three questions.....

1. What kind of food does everyone want for a big communal dinner?

2. What sort of show would everyone like to go to, so perhaps we can get some deal working for tickets?

3. Is there an excursion everyone or anyone wants to try? Skydiving, airplane trip to grand canyon (this actually sounds like alot of fun)? Trip to Parhump? Let's discuss them here.
Is my Pan Am ticket to the moon still good?

1. An idea that's been bandied about has been going to a Brazilian Steakhouse. The two closest places are Samba @ the Mirage and Pampas @ the Aladdin/Planet Hollywood. Let's just say none of us would be spending as much per person at one of those places than we did @ Delmonico last time. I asked Aerobalance to do a little recon during a recent trip; still awaiting info.

2. The new Cirque show "Love" is one that was briefly mentioned. Let's just say the cheapest tickets run $69. I'd go see Wayne Newton if enough of us were interested (That is if he actually stays at Harrah's for longer than his Holiday show). Spamalot is supposed to be in previews @ the Wynn sometime in March, but the dates aren't on the Spamalot site yet.

3. I wouldn't mind checking out Mt. Charleston or Red Rock Canyon. I was just browsing some of the tours Pink Jeep does, and they sound fun as there is also some off-road fun thrown in as well.

I'll keep track of who's coming and be the POC - sorry, the Point of Contact for you non-military types - at LAS beginning on the 22nd, since I'll be there early in the day. I'll send every confirmed attendee my cell phone, via e-mail or PM once that list is solid.

Once again - any problems with the first formal gathering for everyone being at O'Sheas at 7pm, Friday, 3/23/07?

As for my pesonal relies to DL021's questions:

I'll eat where the group eats, I don't care where that is . . .

I'll go to a show where the group goes, I almost don't care what it is . . .

As for excursions, I'm up for anything that does not include altitude. No bungie jumping, airplane jumping, base jumping, or the like . . . . I'll roll with the crowd. Oh, I will not ride along the edge of a canyon in a jeep either.  scared

Alright here is the deal.

As it stands, I will be returning home a little under two weeks prior to the Vegas meet. I still plan on going, however since I will have been back for only a short time... I definitely will be bringing my wife.

HOWEVER, if my mid-tour leave during Thanksgiving, is any indication of the level of "extra-cirricular activities" her and I will be enjoying.... well I'm not sure how much time I will have for the meet.  sly

Seriously though, I am 75/25 on my chances of making it. Unless the re-deployment schedule is altered, I will be home and on leave during that week.

I'll do some more research on these subjects and present some possible ideas during the weekend. I'll also try to figure out something for the under 21s to do while the "grown ups" are playing in the casino (harass the porn slappers maybe.......).

One quick question, as it relates to the excursion part. Who is planning on renting a vehicle for the trip? I know Go3Team is, but who else is planning on it? That way we can go ahead and start arranging the transportation end of things.

HOWEVER, if my mid-tour leave during Thanksgiving, is any indication of the level of "extra-cirricular activities" her and I will be enjoying.... well I'm not sure how much time I will have for the meet.

Well come anyway, just hang a tie on your door when the extra curicular activities are taking place so we don't disturb you.

I'm going to take a chance and non-rev out there. The first DL flight of the day to Vegas is 749 arriving at 1004 on Friday. Hotel reservations to follow soon.

They were hanging out in the sports books or any bar that happened to have a tournament game on.

My first trip to Vegas was about three years back right after Easter (I flew in on Easter) and I was surprised that quite a few school districts in the west were out from Spring Break at that time. Around here, Spring Break for the public schools is typically before Easter. The only times Spring Break would be after Easter was when Easter was in late March.

Many colleges have Spring Break scheduled for either the first or second full week of March. When I was in college, mid-March was typically the latest we had Spring Break.

Just a suggestion, go ahead and get a backup plan going. IIRC, via the pass bureau you can get some WN passes.

I went to check to see how many seats were still open for your flight you're planning on trying to non-rev on when I discovered DL's changed the equipment on my flights yet again. Now I'm back on a 764 (for the time being). Now to go and change my seat assignments.

Ok, ok, ok. I just bought a ticket on an airliNK for $278 RT. I also bought the travel insurance should any unexpected things happen.

ATL-LAS March 23rd, #236, Dep. 2215, Arr. 2341
LAS-ATL March 26th, #231, Dep. 0030, Arr. 0702 +1

Since I will be there late Friday night, I probably won't be able to join the group for Friday's activities. Its the only way I can get there cheaply.

See you all there!

I suspect, as last year, the 'festivities' on Friday will begin at 1900 - officially - at O'Shea's . . . but Friday is a long night . . . .

DOn't count yourself out of ALL the Friday activities yet.  biggrin

Plenty of time, I am attending the Dave Matthews Band Show at the MGM Grand that night, it will not be over till around Midnight, I plan on leaving from there, calling Pep and seeing where the group is and catch up with them.

With 1 or 44 as the first numbers? I don't imagine you getting many calls that night with 44, unless they are from home.

Actually, Friday is still in the early planning stages. The only definite seems to be that we're meeting up @ O'Shea's around 1900 on Friday night. If it's like last time, we'll figure something to do on the fly. When I go into town and called CastleIsland, they were all halfway up the Strip from O'Shea's eating @ the Peppermill.

Looking at your arrival time, unless someone decides to pick you up at the airport, it may be well after 1 am before you meet up with the rest of the group that is still up and at 'em. That time of the night is when the last bank of inbounds comes in and many of them depart as redeyes. So the lines to the shuttle buses and taxis will be long.

That will be coming along once everyone starts firming up their rooms and flights. Once the info email starts going, there will be regular updates sent to everyone (hopefully).

Here's all of the other threads regarding the 2007 Meet:
2007 A.Net LAS Meet PT. 1: The Planning Begins (by Srbmod Sep 10 2006 in Non Aviation) March 2007 A.Net LAS Meet Part 2: Planning Cont (by ANCFlyer Sep 15 2006 in Non Aviation) March 2007 A.net LAS Meet PT. 3: More Planning... (by Srbmod Nov 5 2006 in Non Aviation)

If you want, go ahead and look at the threads regarding the previous meet (many of them are listed under the "similar topics" box). There's about a dozen of them, and the planning for it really didn't start until around this time last year.

I'm already thinking up clever thread titles for future threads on the Meet....
