Nice to see elected representatives not abusing the money the citizens give them. Let's say the fresh towels take up 15 minutes a day of a minimum wage worker. That's $1.60 a day. Over 365 days a year that's $584.

According to http://www.clpud.org/rtchoice.html, a washer costs 3 cents an hour. A dryer costs 27 cents an hour. Let's say the washer and dryer are both on 1 hour a day for the towels, that's 30 cents a day. Over 365 days that's $109.5

Isn't there a better way of spending $700 a year of tax payers' money?

Good god, man, you actually had to go to a website to look up Florida's minimum wage to figure that one out, not to mention all the rest of the numbers.

Just how many towels does Jeb Bush go through in a day? Did you phone his press office to find that out too, or was that merely a stab in the dark?

Bugger off you blowhard Brit. Go concern yourself with your own politics and the problems faced in your own country and not the goings on within Florida. It's quite sad you actually wasted your time to figure out the cost.

Why don't you bother with how much Blair is spending on black suits or how much the Queen is spending on fresh hats from your beloved taxes.

I wonder how often the wash is done at his home? Actually his comment was probably meant to be a joke anyways  angel .

Don't worry, I don't like how British politicians waste our taxes either. If your taxes aren't beloved, so be it. It's your money he's spending on fresh towels.

Jeb Bush was governor of F-L-O-R-I-D-A. Gator lives in G-E-O-R-G-I-A.

I lived in California when Jerry Brown tooled around Sacramento in an old Plymouth and refused to live in the Governor's mansion built during the Reagan years. So the state of California had to pickup the expense for another car, and another housing unit.

Nixon flew on a United DC-10 to the western White House during the energy crisis of '72 (?), and asked the pilot to fly the jet more slowly in the interest of saving fuel, which actually used more fuel because it kept the plane in the sky longer. They still had to fly Air Force One out to California empty to pick him up later.

Sometimes things just aren't the way they appear to be, and even though I may not agree with everything Jeb stood for, I'd rather there be a fresh towel there when he wanted it so he could do his job, rather than spending a couple of hours every week standing there in the laundry room.

Well done. Couldn't have said it better.

So, he gets fresh towels, so what?!

OK lets assume being the governor of a state is like being a CEO of a large corporation. Thier time is very valuable. The make difficult decisions, so it is a waste of tax payers money if Jeb is out doing the laundry. Its fresh towels for Christ's sake. You can get fresh towels at any hotel worth staying at, any time of the night.

Yeah, the Governor of Florida can have a fresh towel whenever he wants. The queen of England can have a fresh diamond necklace when she wants.

People have a choice whether to buys shares in a large corporation.

Fresh towels 24 hours a day is different from someone doing his laundry.

Which you pay for.

The queen's wealth and position is another point of contention, don't worry about that.

With power, comes responsibility and privledge. First off, I dont care for Jeb. But I cant stand his brother. I mean I really despise his brother. But when you are the governor, there are certain perks of the job. One of them is usually a nice house to live in, that is staffed. Part of that staff's duties are to do the laundry. Thier main purpose as employees of the state of Florida is to get the governor a towel whenever he wants it. This is a guy, who has served the people of Florida, it is a perk of the job he is going to miss. At my job I have a computer so I can do work, and post on A.net. I do not have a computer at work. If I left this job, guess what? No computer.

The US government has a deficit, as MD-90 happily harps on about. If you want to start cutting costs, look no further than the bathroom.

Quoting Bushpilot (Reply 11):

Exactly. Fiscal responsibility. Have two sets of towels and wash them twice a week like the proles do. Saves tax payers' money, saves the environment.

? Alright, cool. Way to go. Is that meant to be a metaphor, because it's really terrible if it is. Really terrible. See, that $700 a year is 40 new English books so people like yourself can learn how to use metaphors.

Jeb Bush's former bathroom in the governor's mansion was in T-A-L-L-A-H-A-S-S-E-E. It's funded by the taxpayers of F-L-O-R-I-D-A.

The U.S. government is run from W-A-S-H-I-N-G-T-O-N, D.-C. It is funded by the taxpayers of all A-M-E-R-I-C-A-N-S.

Jeb Bush could go through 100 towels a day (you know, it is kind of hot and humid down there), but it wouldn't make a bit of difference one way or another in the deficit of the U-N-I-T-E-D S-T-A-T-E-S.

Sorry, maybe I didn't make my point so obvious that it couldn't be mis-interpreted. There's a deficit in the Federal budget. Cut costs by starting at the bathroom. OK?

What, pray tell, does that have to do with the budget of the state of F-L-O-R-I-D-A? Perhaps we should have a civics lesson on how each budget is funded, but I have prezzies to wrap, so you'll have to Google that yourself.

I live in the Americas, therefore I am an American. My tax money does not fund the U.S. federal government. And that makes me incredibly happy, too.

As a liberal American, I do not begrudge fresh towels and good water pressure for Jeb Bush. I'm glad he enjoyed them, as I would.

I still pay property tax in Florida so I'm entitled to an opinion on how taxes are spent in Florida. Jeb was a good Governor despite some issues as with any Governor. If he wants a fresh towel whenever he wants that's fine by me as long as the state remains great.

Are we still cryin' about towels for the Governor of Florida???  rotfl

All the crap hitting the fan in this world 777, and the only thing you can come up with is Governor Bush's laundry situation?!  faint

 boggled  the mind, really . . .

Do you think Mr. Blair has his towels beamed into his bathroom, mysteriously cleaned by some unknown freak of nature?

Hey, how about ole Kim Jong Il? Well, maybe he doesn't use towels, maybe he dried by some sort of photosynthesis? You know, being the all powerful Dear Leader and all . . .

If you'd spend as much time and energy perhaps worrying about your own gov't you could be an MP by now . . .

Enough already . . .

Seriously, folks, can you not possibly grasp a little wry humor? Clean towels and hot water...
