Are there any Thai terrorist groups around?
This looks more like an Al-Quaeda (or some group with ties to Al-Quaeda) attack though.

There's a possibility there might be more. The police have now cancelled any outdoor public new year celebrations. It's not sure what the aim of the bombs were but the police are considering it as an internal matter and nothing to do with outside terrorist groups.

Woah! I just got back from Bangkok on Friday. Glad I wasn't there for these "events."

It's quite contrasting the situation in the Southern provinces, close to Malaysia, compared to the peace that reigns in places like Chiang Mai.

Cheers,

From the BBC article:
Our Bangkok correspondent says many Thais suspect the bombs were the work of opponents of the current military government, which forced Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra from office in September.

So before you all start blaming Muslims for this, wait until we actually find out who caused the bombings.

No one is blaming anyone, just listing suspects.

RIP to the 2 fatalities, so sad just before the new year.  Sad
Well I believe it all is coming to an end. Oh well, I guess we are gonna pretend.
