King Crimson Lovers

Fri Jan 05, 2007 3:27 pm

OK, share it. Crimson is the best five R&R bands ever IMO. Personnel changes; whatever be damned.

Who gets it? Shares it?

1981:

1973:

Just a small slice.

Crimson will consume you if you let it. Prog, metal, nasty, dirt, melody...

If you never heard "In The Court Of The Crimson King" you're missing
out on some great music. The title song, along with "21st Century
Schizoid Man" are classic. Fripp, Lake, McDonald are awesome. The
album cover art used to scare the sheet out me when I did too much
partying.

I recommend buying, downloading, stealing or whatever it takes to get
this album.

Yeah I used to have a couple of their albums.

I still like this lot too.

"partying"?
Come on admit it, you were doing acid, right?

Another King Crimson related band was U.K.

It featured ex-King Crimson members John Wetton and Bill Bruford on drums, ex-Roxy Music member Eddie Jobson, and Allan Holdsworth. It was released in 1978.

You have to listen to this album from begining to end without any interuptions. Its a sonic utopia.

The designer of the cover died only a few weeks after the album came out. At age 23 or 24.

Damn, Fripp would have yer head on a stick if he read that!

As youtube doesn't work here on my work computer, and as I'm travelling this weekend, I look forward to checking this out next week at home. That's Fripp's original 1965 Les Paul.

I still have to find this, 'fly. Looking forward to it.

Fripp is a mightily interesting dude. Not only can he play stuff that perhaps noone else on Earth can play (check out "Fracture") properly, but he has a very interesting perspective on things.

Really he does.

Perhaps the most talented rock bass player ever (forget about the Chapman stick, which just puts him that much further over the top). His resume reads like a who's who.

Superfly, I never heard of that band U.K. but I'm going to look for it.

Doing acid.............I'm invoking my fifth amendment rights.

Scarlet, you are so right about Tony Levin. I caught him with
Peter Gabriel, he was fantastic.

I knew John was behind this thread when I saw the title. You know my opinion on Crimson - absolutely one of the greatest bands of all time!

Maybe he was implicitly admitting to acid by the "sheet"?  Smile
Where are all of my respected members going?

Me too...saw him on the Up tour. He really was amazing! I especially love his playing on the middle section of the song I Grieve from the Up album...the section where the tempo of the song changes.
