OK, so as the 4th quarter begins, Manning has redeemed himself to an extent.

Before the Chiefs last drive, I believe they set a record for offensive futility - NO first downs until halfway through the third quarter. Their defense had more yardage than their offense at one point.

Day 1 complete...

Colts manhandle the Chiefs 23-8

Seahawks squeak by the Cowboys 21-20 on account of a muffed field goal hold by Tony Romo...

As a Giants fan, I have to disagree about it sucking.
It looked like the Cowboys must have hired the Cincinnati Bengals to do their Special Teams.
I do give Romo some credit for at least having the awareness to pick up the ball and run (and almost getting the first down because of it). A very exciting game to watch, that was for sure.
Hopefully the Giants can upset Philly tomorrow.

That was a screwy game. I can't believe some of the calls that Holmgren made. For example, he should have kicked the field goal on 4th down. Seahawks defense should not have allowed the 19,000 yard kickoff touchdown return. BLAH BLAH BLAH.

But, I am happy with the results. Seahawks are going to the Superbowl again. Hopefully they will come out winning it this time.

That would be nice, but reality is the Seahawks haven't played well for at least five weeks now, which means they better hope to play the Saints next week if they want to advance.

I totally agree. The Seahawks played well their last game, but in all the last 5 games have been a real let down. I hope that the momentum builds, and that Holmgren smacks the defense around. They also have to quit depending on Alexander so much. He got hurt in a play last night, and luckily he bounced back after a few plays.

Chicago is no joke. I would rather see Seattle go against New Orleans.

Well, the Slowhawks  duck  certainly pulled it out last night. I was able to watch the last 15 min of the game - which was really I'm told the best part of the whole shindig!

Way to go Seattle.

Sorry, but you are dreaming. The Seahawks are to be congratulated for making it as far as they have with the injuries they have suffered, but I don't see them being able to beat the Bears or the Saints.

If they do, they'll get slaughtered in the Super Bowl.

Both games over today...

Patriots slaughter the Jets 37-16...

and the Eagles barely pull it out over the Giants 23-20 on a last second Akers FG to win (bye bye Tiki, enjoy the broadcast world)...definitely had a shaky performance today...some highpoints as well as some lowpoints, but we pulled out the W and thats all that matters for the moment...now on to next week's divisional matchups:

Patriots @ Chargers...LT too much for Pats D
Colts @ Ravens .....Ravens D handles Manning, Harrison and Addai
Seahawks @ Bears ...Bears lay an egg at home, Seahawks in a stunner
Eagles @ Saints ...Donte Stallworth has a humongous game against his former team, Birds pull off the upset

Philadelphia beats New York 23-20 with a field goal in the last play of the game (and some help from the officials  mad . I'm normally pretty good about being able to take an objective view at the officiating, but even some of my friends who had no interest in the game, and even the announcers could tell the calls were generally in favor of Philly.

We (the Saints) will take our chances against Philly next Saturday, and I have every confidence that the Saints will come out on top:

1) it's in the loudest stadium in the NFL, the Superdome.....that place will be rocking. And it won't be Philly fan making the noise...
2) never bet against Brees, Bush, Deuce, and Sean Payton.
3) Philly didn't exactly blow out the 8-8 (and 2-6 in their last 8 games) Giants.

Looks I'm the first Charger fan to weigh in. Would'a been nice to play the Jets for revenge....but it'll be fun to have pretty boy Brady in town. Do the Patriots have a defense? And as this is an airline enthusiast forum....our little airport here at SAN will handle the influx of New Englanders just fine.

Anyone else get a wee bit frustrated at the Eagles and their stupid conservative play-calling about midway thru the 3rd quarter? I thought I was going to throw the remote at the TV. They are damned lucky they didn't lose the game...

Saints over Eagles by AT LEAST 10. It may not even be that close. No one's going to come into the loudest stadium in the NFL (Superdome) and beat our Saints in the playoffs this year.

I'll also go woth the Pats over the Chargers...Seahawks over Bears in an upset...Indy over Baltimore.

Saints Fans seem to think that they blew out the Eagles during the regular season. A bit of whistling past the graveyard on thier part, since the Eagles only lost that game in the final seconds.

Don't look at the squeaker over the Giants as an indication of weakness. The Giants ALWAYS play the Eagles tough. It is a storied rivalry, and the Giants are a team Philadelphians LOVE to hate. The tougher the game the more satisfying the win.

I would enjoy seeing the Seahawks pull off an upset. I just don't think they have tools to pull it off with.

I just got off the phone with Holmgren, and he had this to say:

He says the Bears are  tombstone

He also told me that he has the  champagne  ready.

He also told me to tell you that he has the  trophy  getting made as I type this!

I know it is going to be a tough game, but it seems that the Seahawks have shown their luck in the last game. Seriously, the odds of the ending of the last game were 1 in a billion.

If the bears win, I will have no choice but to be a man, and say that you know your football. But in the meantime, I have to get going on my pushups. Gotta get ready for the game! LOL!

If Marty let's his D do what it does, and LT do what he does, I can't see anyone stopping them. But it would be interesting to see Brees face the team that let him go.

Talk about a situation-the Brees/Rivers one, that is-that worked out for everyone involved.

No doubt you love your team but the Pats D is no where near the best in the business. They are good at disrupting the flow of the other teams offense.....

I cringe watching Bruschi run around out there.....the speed of SD's offense might be too much for them...
