How Many A.netters To Change A Lightbulb?

Wed Jan 10, 2007 7:50 am

Question: How many A.netters does it take to change a lightbulb?

Answer: 393

1 to change the light bulb and to post on A.net that the light bulb has been changed;

9 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and explain how the light bulb could have been changed differently;

14 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs;

34 to hit "suggest deletion" stating that this belongs in NonAv;

12 to post the cargo bay in all it's variations

18 to defend the posting to this list saying that it does belong into CivAv because the same goes for cockpit light bulbs;

4 to suggest a move into Tech/Ops instead;

26 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty;

2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp";

15 know-it-all teenage armchair CEOs who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct;

16 to start fighting the "O vs. G" (Osram vs. GE)

15 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs;

12 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URLs;

4 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to aviation which makes light bulbs relevant to the CivAv forum;

32 to quote all above posts, adding "Me too";

4 to post to that they are self-deleting from A.net because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy;

18 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three";

5 to suggest a light bulb FAQ in SiteRelated;

38 to ask "What is a FAQ?";

6 to call those 38 "n00bs"

14 to ask "What is a n00b"

6 to ask "Didn't we go through this a short time ago on Jetphotos.net?";

28 to warn "You'll get banned for mentioning Jetphotos.net";

13 to say "Do a Search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs";

9 to argue whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb";

Another 9 to condemn those 9 as anal-retentive;

17 to get angry by the discussion, saying "stick that lightbulb where the sun don't shine!";

10 to follow the directions of the 17 above;

1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again;

1 mod to close the thread for being a useless transatlantic flame fest, permanently moving the whole issue over onto Airwhiners.

 rotfl  Thats great

Message too short
The message you were about to post is too short and probably not of any higher value to the topic at hand. You should think long and hard before posting a message in this forum and make it detailed and a valuable addition to the topic discussed.

Avoid posting "Me Too" messages. These are messages that are posted by people who agree to a point being discussed and post a one liner, "me too!", "Good post Jim!", "I disagree" or similar message. This takes up time as readers must sort through these messages which have no real value to the group at large. Any message containing nothing more than a line or two of text is probably not worth posting.

If you have an opinion on a topic, you should in detail express why you have the opinion and what made you come to that conclusion.

Your post should be relevant to the topic discussed.

Heard something similar before (forum users, not necessarily A.net users) before, but just as funny every time.

Actually, it should be 394, as I will most likely make a play on words in an attempt to bring some humor into the topic that will go unnoticed.

There's a few more:

6 to use the large gathering of people to ask what they should do about the latest crisis in their relationship, (my girlfriend sleeping with my Dad, or something like that).

8692 to offer themselves up as relationship counsellers

60 to distract everyone from the job ay hand by making lame, pathetic attempts to gain the attention of the 3 females in the room.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
1 to change the light bulb and to post on A.net that the light bulb has been changed;

And 1 bored A.netter who can do it all!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
9 to share similar experiences of changing light bulbs and explain how the light bulb could have been changed differently;

I relamped a nav light on an airplane 2 weeks ago. And in your case, I would have used gloves so that the oil on my skin wouldn't burn up the lightbulb.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
14 to caution about the dangers of changing light bulbs;

Be careful! Turn off the electric supply to the bulb first before changing it.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
34 to hit "suggest deletion" stating that this belongs in NonAv;

Well, this happens to be in non-av so I'll skip this step.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
12 to post the cargo bay in all it's variations

I'll stick with the original:

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
18 to defend the posting to this list saying that it does belong into CivAv because the same goes for cockpit light bulbs;

This belongs in unCivil_Av because the same goes for cockpit light bulbs.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
4 to suggest a move into Tech/Ops instead;

This belongs in unCivil_Av because the same goes for cockpit light bulbs.

You idiot if we are talking about airplane light bulbs, it obviously belongs in Tech_Ops!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
26 to debate which method of changing light bulbs is superior, where to buy the best light bulbs, what brand of light bulbs work best for this technique and what brands are faulty;

Some light bulbs go straight in, some are screwed in, and others are the "twist and lock" type. I prefer the twist and lock type because it is fast and effective. Get Goodrich lights from Aviall. They work great and Aviall will give you a good deal. Much better than those faulty GE lights.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
2 industry professionals to inform the group that the proper term is "lamp";

You idiot if we are talking about airplane light bulbs, it obviously belongs in Tech_Ops!

No, you are the idiot! We here in the profession call them "lamps" Hence the term, "relamping".

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
15 know-it-all teenage armchair CEOs who claim they were in the industry, and that "light bulb" is perfectly correct;

We here in the profession call them "lamps" Hence the term, "relamping".

I worked on the ramp as a teen and if I told a mechainic that there is a burnt out light bulb on the airplane, he would know what I was talking about. Light bulb is a perfectly correct term.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
16 to start fighting the "O vs. G" (Osram vs. GE)

Who is Osram and what makes him better than GE?

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
15 to post URLs where one can see examples of different light bulbs;

You can see examples of aircraft lamps here:
http://www.flightessentials.net/browseproducts/GE-Aircraft-Lamps.HTML.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
12 to post that the URLs were posted incorrectly and then post the corrected URLs;

You can see examples of aircraft lamps here:
http://www.flightessentials.net/brow...oducts/GE-Aircraft-Lamps.HTML.

You idiot! You put an extra period on the end of your link. The correct link is:
http://www.flightessentials.net/browseproducts/GE-Aircraft-Lamps.HTML

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
4 to post about links they found from the URLs that are relevant to aviation which makes light bulbs relevant to the CivAv forum;

You idiot if we are talking about airplane light bulbs, it obviously belongs in Tech_Ops!

Yes, but I found a link to the FARs that say that changing light bulbs is preventative maintenance, so a pilot can do it, so it obviously belongs in unCivil_av!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
32 to quote all above posts, adding "Me too";

I worked on the ramp as a teen

Me Too!!!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
4 to post to that they are self-deleting from A.net because they cannot handle the light bulb controversy;

All this fighting over something as trivial as light bulbs and lamps makes me want to leave A.net. I can't stand the Childishness, I'm self deleting.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
18 to quote the "Me too's" to say "Me three";

I worked on the ramp as a teen

Me Too!!!

Me three!!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
5 to suggest a light bulb FAQ in SiteRelated;

There are so many kinds of light bulbs, we ought to have a FAQ in site related for reference.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
38 to ask "What is a FAQ?";

There are so many kinds of light bulbs, we ought to have a FAQ in site related for reference.

WTF is an FAQ?

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
6 to call those 38 "n00bs"

WTF is an FAQ?

You don't know what an FAQ is? What a n00b.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
14 to ask "What is a n00b"

What a n00b.
I've never heard this term before, what is a "n00b"?

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
6 to ask "Didn't we go through this a short time ago on Jetphotos.net?";

Didn't we go through this a short time ago on Jetphotos.net?

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
28 to warn "You'll get banned for mentioning Jetphotos.net";

Didn't we go through this a short time ago on Jetphotos.net?

OMG! You'll get banned for even mentioning that site!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
13 to say "Do a Search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs";

Who is Osram and what makes him better than GE?

You idiot! Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
9 to argue whether it's "lightbulb" or "light bulb";

Do a search on light bulbs before posting questions about light bulbs!

You idiot! It is spelled "lightbulb"

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
Another 9 to condemn those 9 as anal-retentive;

You idiot! It is spelled "lightbulb"
What an anal retentive blowhard you are. who cares if it is one word or two.

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
17 to get angry by the discussion, saying "stick that lightbulb where the sun don't shine!";

This thread is making me angry. All of you little pukes can stick that lightbulb where the sun don't shine!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
10 to follow the directions of the 17 above;

All of you little pukes can stick that lightbulb where the sun don't shine!

Do you know how painful that was? Ouch!

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
1 forum lurker to respond to the original post 6 months from now and start it all over again;

(I'll be back in 6 months)

Quoting Birdwatching (Thread starter):
1 mod to close the thread for being a useless transatlantic flame fest, permanently moving the whole issue over onto Airwhiners.

I'm tired of you little teenieboppers ruining this web site with pathetic arguements like this. I'm locking this thread.
