Gas Prices Dropping

Fri Jan 12, 2007 9:43 pm

So I pull up to the pump yesterday, expecting to see prices around $2.10 for unleaded....what do I see?

$1.999

Woohoo! Texted my friend in Nevada who called me a word that'll get me banned from here, as he was still paying $2.75... Big grin

I paid $2.13 in Ohio yesterday, drove to Pennsylvania and saw that it was still $2.35.

Same here, needed to fill up yesterday with unleaded but was in a rush, anyway as I passed the petro (gas) station I saw tha price at €1.169 and this morning when I went to the same place to fill up it was €1.129. Also see diesel is back below the €1mark after a couple of years over it. May it continue!

Petrol in Sydney is around $1.20/L with the the lowest being $1.16/L. They're making it more expensive as families drive home from various holidays to places.

Good, so it's not just me. German VAT increased from 16% to 19% on January 1st, and I expected diesel to be at 1,109 per litre or more. It's at 1,079! Big grin Not that I have or want a car, but I still like it.

Enjoy it now...once the spring refinery shutdowns and the switch to the "Summer blend" begins, the prices will skyrocket. It happens every spring.

Still about US$2.50 a gal for gas here, and US$2.80 for diesel.

US$3.09 a gal for Diesel at work.

Crude prices dropped under US$50 a bbl yesterday, unexpectedly warm temps in the East have lead to a glut of heating oil . . .

In the Philly area (Southeastern PA-side anyway), the lowest price for Regular I've seen is still $2.399; where it's been since after Christmas.

Diesel prices I've seen range from $2.759 to $2.799; again, no change since Christmas. One nearby Exxon station is still charging $2.999 for diesel for the last 6 months. The gasoline prices have changed at this station over time but the diesel price has stayed constant.

As far as I'm concerned Gas Prices are a total joke!!!

In Toronto, Ontario where I live if you buy gas during the day or in the evening the cost is around 79.5 per ltr. If you go out after 10pm at night to the same gas stations the gas is always down to around 72.5....so why is it that they charge less after dark???

I was thinking the same thing. People bashed and trashed Bush when the prices were up, but these same people don't give him credit for the lower prices. That just proves Bush has nothing to do with the price of gas. It's amazing how misinformed some people are. Now I'll probably be flamed by the lefties on here.  Angry

Just payed my gas at 1.689 over here at a local place today. I was amazed. Just last week it was 2.25 and I was dumbfounded when I saw that price. Just goes to show if you're willing to look around, there are places you find out of the way that are cheaper.

Not as bad as Melbourne. Here we routinely pay $1.30 upwards.
For our American friends on here, that's starting from US$3.70 per gallon. And we see that as cheap at the moment!!!

Also keep in mind that gas sold in Minnesota contain 10% ethanol, that helps cut the cost a little. Just another way Minnesota subsidizes the corn industry.

$2.45 - $2.56 here (Orange Co. CA). And I just read something recently about any decline in price we see will be short lived, being that some refineries need to be closed for routine maintenance. Go figure.

That's a purely Ontario thing (Maybe some other Cdn provinces do the same thing, I don't know). I've never seen gas prices change as much on a daily basis as they do in Ontario. The Sunoco across the street from me goes from a high price (usually around morning rush hour) then will drop a few cents after evening rush hour, and then drop again at around 10 or 11. If you cross into Québec that does not happen. Gas prices don't change nearly as often as they do on the Ontario side.

That said, as of 90 mins ago, that same Sunoco was at 76.4c/litre.

I think that one reason why fuel prices didn't skyrocket after the VAT increase in Germany is the mild winter, which reduced the demand for heating fuel. Also most people filled up before the tax increase beginning of this year (I filled up all jerrycans I own, 70 liters total).
