Any Coronation Street Fans?

Sat Jan 13, 2007 6:50 am

Did you see Tracy Barlow bash Charlie over the head?

This is the moment she bashes him over the head.

Coronation street comes on....... TV goes off, same for just about every soap.

I dislike watching TV shows about people's often miserable lives, and boring goings on; there is enough misery in the world without paying a scriptwriter to come up with more of it.

I'm more of an Eastenders man and I must say this, the death of Pauline made my Christmas that little bit more enjoyable!

Hmm, I'm wondering, could we introduce a heavy metal band to the street, perhaps let Cradle of Filth move in next to the Rovers...  devil

Lyrics are very important, I don't mind them being depressing because I like them, which actually cheers me up! Anyway, depression never hurt anyone, right Wink

Corrie is alright but I don't watch it as much as Eastenders.

Stacey is my favorite in Eastenders but she turning into Kat and all that Max Branning business is just sick!

It's depressing but I think seeing other people suffer makes good TV just talk to channel 4, they know all about making people suffer in BB.
Whenever someone dies is Eastenders they get high ratings but when something nice happens like when Kat and Alfie left they got poorer rating than Corrie and previous years. I expect Eastenders to keep up the depression.

Coro Street is big in NZ. People go nuts over it. It never took on with the Aussies, who seem to prefer American soaps. I have watched about 2 episodes in my life, and thought it was OK. The theme music is depressing

I think that this is the interesting thing about British soaps. Even though the storylines are pretty fanciful, the characters are very relatable, unlike American soaps featuring dynasties and beautiful people. It's the quaint humble English thing, a bit like selecting a buch of hacks in the cricket team, which I'm sure was done just to be polite.
