Technics 1500 A Good Reel To Reel?

I am thinking about purchasing a Technics 1500 reel to reel tape recorder or an Akai GX635D, any sugguestions on the better unit?

Wow, a thread for me & Matt D.
I am not too familiar with the Technics 1500 tape deck but the Akai GX series is a highliy sought after unit because of it's glass head.
I'd go for the Akai.
Bring back the Concorde
