I'm shocked! Shocked I say! She said she wanted to be Senator!

This has been coming since 1992. I already plan on voting in the Democratic primary against her.

There are so many of us real democrats who can't stand her that we will bounce her out!

I just can not stand that woman. I really don't know what I will do if she moves into the general election in '08.

Of course it was. All she has ever wanted is to be President. So it comes as no surprise that she has continued to lie to the public and say all she is interested in is serving as the junior Senator from the state of New York and then pull this one on everyone.

I personally have no desire to see her as the President nor do I want to see another free spending NeoCon Republican either. Let's just see how she does in the primaries since she has tried to make herself out to be a moderate when the primary system lends itself to the core left in the Democratic Party. She may not even make it out of them to the nomination.

Having no opinon on her, and generally letting elections in the respective country (yes, I don't hate Pres. Bush, I just don't agree with most of what he has done so far, but if Americans want him - so be it), I wonder why this woman is so highly polarzing.
Does your refusal to support her base on decisions she made as NY's Senator, or is is more a general feeling?

There is NO WAY she will win even the primary. The Clintons have way too much dirty laundry, no one trusts them. IF GWB COULD dun again it would be a land slide victory. Otherwise my guess is Jeb Bush will be our next president.

She'll win some but enough for the nomination? I'm still unsure about this one.

Dirty laundry, yes. Trust? Ever hear of Friends of Bill? They have a huge following (scary in itself  Wink )that will get out to support her. The question that remains is will that be enough to counteract her negatives.

Quoting AA787823 (Reply 8):

Well let's not not start talking crazy. Even I know he wouldn't get reelected if he could have a third term.

Quoting AA787823 (Reply 8):

Not going to happen in 2008. Perhaps 2012 but not this cycle.

Quoting NoUFO (Reply 6):
I wonder why this woman is so highly polarzing.

Because she is a flat out liar. She plays to the role of being a moderate but deep down inside (no matter what N1102A is going to chime in here with later on) she is a socialist to the core. She has disdain for the common American and thinks that she knows better what we need to do with our lives than we do.

Quoting NoUFO (Reply 6):

I can't speak for DTW but I don't support her because of her opinions and poisitions she has taken on health care, individual rights, and many other things. It's not so much a general feeling but just not liking her record and opinions.

Not particularly interesting as it's been obviously coming. What WILL be interesting (perhaps even fun) though, is the upcoming campaign rivalry between Hillary Rodham Clinton and Barak Hussein Obama for the party nomination.

I, as many of you have expressed here, don't give the former a good chance of winning the election if nominated (because she is so polarizing), and don't give the latter a chance either because he's so "liberal" and, rightly or wrongly, because of his name, not his skin color.

I honestly have no opinion on her, other that she sometimes seems (!) to be a bit on the arrogant side. At the same time she seems (!) to have high work ethics.

Other than that she studied the German health care system (mix of socialized and private health care), I have to admit I know very little about her.

Ahhh...no. Too many conservatives and independents would sit out the election. A lot of people of deserted Bush, and I suspect he will be quiet for a long time after he leaves DC.

I'm leaning McCain as of now, but I will listen to the others. I'm not sold on Romney, don't care for Rudy or Senator Smiley (Edwards) and I'm curious to learn more about Obama. I'm hoping for a moderate, as are most others.

As for the primary, I will vote against Hilary.

Yes, it was telegraphed.

What surprises me is that Sen. Hillary might be afraid of Sen. Obama's taking an early lead. She shouldn't.

Indeed. If Sen. Hillary becomes President -- as it appears she will -- then there will be probably be vacillation in our foreign policy.

Now that she has announced her intentions, many of us look forward to her platform -- with trepidation!

I'm not impressed by the Republican slate, either.

But to oppose Sen. Clinton, we must know her platform. Would it include, for example, massive cuts in defense?

Just because she says she's in, it doesn't mean that the story is over, I'm sure you would agree. The story has just begun.

Some personal predictions:

Jeb Bush - already peaked and the name is tainted. Cold day in hell before he'll see national elected office.

John McCain - The USA will never elect a Vietnam veteran President. I've been saying this for twenty years. Not even a Vietnam veteran who turned Vietnam protester and threw his own/somebody else' medals/ribbons he earned/put himself in for - over the Whitehouse fence.

Rudy Giuliani - 55/45 on his being president, 75/25 on being VP.

Barack Obama - could defeat any Republican in '08 but cannot defeat Hillary in D-Primary.

Tanya Rodham Bobbitt (I mean Hillary) - will defeat all comers in the D-primary but face huge uphill struggle against ANY Republican including Dubya for a third term.

Wildcards: Some Dem front runners might see themselves as too big a name to accept the second spot on the ticket. HRH HRC no doubt falls into this category.

For you moderates who might vote D or R (like me) how about a Giuliani/Obama ticket? Can I sweeten it with General Russel Honoré as SecDef?

I think McCain has the best chance of any of them. Kerry and Gore were to extreme, and that's why they lost. So what about an Iraq war veteran in 10-15 years? Since so many people like to compare Iraq and Vietnam, does that preclude any Desert Storm/Iraq war vet, too?

But as Aerospace said he is extremely liberal. The GOP will hammer him on the issue of drug use in the past (yes I'm aware that GW loves coke).

I think McCain has the best shot of them all (unless Giuliani runs). He doesn't have any skeletons in the closet, is a decorated veteran, and has served the senate for years honorably.

What needs "spin" is her personality. She tries very hard to come across as a human being you would not urgently need to slap the shit out of but anecdotes from hundreds of people who have had encounters with her dispel that myth. She is one of the most disagreeable human beings in public life since Richard Nixon and she is no more honest than he was.

Ok.

I believe she has a political ideology that has its roots in Marxism. In her formative years, Marxism was a very important part of her ideology...But when you look at her ideas on health and education, you see more government and less individual control. You see very little regard for families...

We all know about her book, It Takes a Village. She says the future is not family but the larger village of teachers, pediatricians and social workers. She talks about raising children as less of a parental task than a social one...You have the destruction of the family unit. That’s very basic when you study Socialism and Marxism.

Good point..
Personally, I don't see her getting elected, and when American finally gets a female president, it will be because a woman was Vice-President and the President died.
Actually the Democrats have some female governors that are much more savvy than Hillary, (Kansas, Arizona), gold digger comes to mind when I think of Hillary, besides its much to early more me to pick a candidate from either party.

That is true...I would love to see the Constitution changed and run Michigan Govenor Jennifer Granholm as a Democratic candidate. However that would also open the door for some guy from California. Big grin  Big grin

Also, remember although 15 senators have served as President, only two have been elected directly from that office (Harding and JFK).

I know this is supposed to be about Hilliary, but that does make me wonder if the Republicans won't try and pick up Palin for vp in 08.
