Brownback's "Off To See The Wizard"

Wed Jan 24, 2007 5:37 am

Sen. Brownback, the favorite of the religious "right" for the Republican nomination, known for his stands against abortion and gay marriage, announced his candidacy with a decidedly light in the loafers remark:

http://www.planetout.com/news/article.html?2007/01/22/2

"I am a conservative and I'm proud of being a conservative," he proclaimed Saturday. "My family and I are taking the first steps on the yellow brick road to the White House.

It's a great journey," the two-term senator told hundreds of supporters. He pledged to fight on behalf of American cultural values and to focus on rebuilding families.

Now that we know who's Dorothy, I just want to know who'll be playing the Scarecrow, Tin Man, and the Cowardly Lion. This should be fun.

We're off to see the Wizard, the wonderful Wizard of Oz!

Why Kansas returned his guy to the Senate, is beyond me. This guy is just a one issue candidate, as proof: see today's Washington Post article regarding the abortion rally in Washington DC. Has I wrote in the last thread on Mr. Brownback before it got deleted; he won't last until Feb 2008.

I hope Senator Sam Brokeback wins the GOP nomination.
That would ensure a Democratic victory, even a Hillary victory!  Smile

Seriously though, Sam Brokeback would expose John McCain for being the phony that he really is that would do and say anything to get elected.
Senator Brokeback would also expose Giulani for being a chameleon that will change his stripes and even his clothes to act as a liberal when necessary.

All I could do was laugh . . .

First, who the hell is this guy?

Second, if he thinks no more of a run for the presidency of the United States as a "trip on the Yellow Brick Road" he's already lost . . .

McCain's been busy blowing Jerry Fallwell, Pat Robertson and James Dobson the last few months. Those geezers can't churn it out fast enough for McCain.

Well, Guiliani IS a liberal, and especially when you compare him to Brownback, McCain and others in the GOP cro-magnon crowd. Guiliani has more in common with HRC than he does with his fellow Republicans.

The only thing Brokeback is useful for is his distaste for the current American tax code (he has advocated a flat tax). I'd like to see something along the lines of the Defense of Marriage Act, but it shouldn't be a priority for any Republican candidate, considering the rather pathetic state of other items happening in Washington and abroad.

I think he is a sick man the represents some of the worst in American politics. I want him to win the GOP nod and see him go down in flames along with his anti-gay issues.

Then his wife will leave him and he'll hook up with Mark Foley. Big grin

Close but no cigar. Slight correction, Gov. Graves appointed Sheila Fraham to replace Bob Dole, and she in turn lost to Brownback in the Republican primary. He upset the moderate Republicans by running, and quite frankly they haven't forgiving him, and in the last election a number of them changed parties and were elected as Democrats. (P.S. I was enjoying two years in Western Kansas at the time, what a culture shock from California; What can't buy beer on Sundays?)

You don't have the need to know.

Finally he is holding at 1% in the lastest Gallup Poll. 1/12-14 2007

No, Atwood, Kansas:45 miles east of Colorado on Hwy 36 and 8 miles south of Nebraska (they do sell beer on Sundays) on Hwy 25, in short in middle of no-where.

one may ask...

Quote:
So what is this man's platform? Does he have one? Can he walk and chew gum at the same time?

Why yes - he can walk and chew gum whil committing acts of homophobia (which is racism).

His platform consists of religion, anti-abortion, introducing constitutional amendments banning gay marriage, his flavor of Christinaty, anti-abortion, more homophobia and more religion.

He clearly stated abortion and gay marriage are key issues that the nation needs to debate.

Corruption is part of his platform. He took tens of thousands of dollars from Jack Abramoff. Once caught, he had to donate it. And then proceeded to lie about it. He took thousands from a guy wrapped up with Duke Cunningham, too.

The "good" Republican is so tied up in his religion - he wants in your bedroom soooo bad -- his senior advisor's cult compound of a town in Florida will ban the sale of condoms and birth control.

He supports censorship.

Did I mention he opposes abortion? So that means more kids grow up in orphanages. And in Sam Brownback's world gays sure the hell can't adopt.

Hmmm - no condoms, no abortions, no adoptions. Well, no adoptions unless you are straight. (probably white, because Sam is obviously a racist due to his 1997 mocking comments toward Asians)

He's for gambling - as long as you call it Indian Gaming and a Reservation in Kansas benefits from it.

All in all looks like the guy wants more laws (mainly to do with what happens in one's home), is a bigot and liar...

and one might say...

Quote:
any reason for anyone to disparage him

Well, I really disparage liars, racists and cheaters.

Brownback is an enemy of freedom. His tax stance is just about the only redeemable quality. He's trying to outdo Trent Lott for loser haircut of the year as well.
