Embarrassing Article; For Us Chrysler Lebaron Fans

Thu Jan 25, 2007 8:00 am

When I read this article, I fell out of my seat laughing.  rotfl
I hope no one ever though I would have bought my 1987 Chrysler Lebaron convertible for this reason.

' After 25 Years, I Finally Figured Out How To Impress High-School Girls '

I mean, the title is funny in and of it's self. Read the whole article and you'll see why I found this to be hillarious! Big grin

"Then I've got an opportunity to offer them a ride there, because if there's one thing high-school girls love, it's a guy with a set of wheels. Especially a convertible. Most boys their age can't afford anything nice yet, but I've got a career, and I paid cash for my '87 LeBaron. And a car like that never fails to turn a few heads around a high-school campus."

Here is my old 1987 Chrysler Lebaron Convertible

Priceless ...

Superfly, what was that early 80's Chrysler convertiable - the square shaped one? With wood look panels? Was it just the previous generation Lebaron?

Yes it was.
In fact, I had my heart set on buying one of those until I came across that '87 model I bought which was the first year for that design.
Same as the box Lebarons underneath the skin.

"Embarrassing Article; For Us Chrysler Lebaron Fans"

I would think that more embarrassing than the article would be the fact you admitted you are a "Chrysler Lebaron fan"....

I figured I'd get a reply like that.  Smile
These Lebarons were beautiful cars but were underpowered and broke down all the time. I spend many days under the hood of this car and all throughout and saw many areas that were poorly designed.

Was that in a commercial?
Did Lee Iaccoca say that?
Those are fine cars but only the Chrysler line had availible Corinthian leather seats.  Smile

Sad thing is if I had a million dollars, I would buy a K-car.
It would be the same 1987 Lebaron convertible but I'd drop in the new 5.7 liter V8 HEMI and convert it to a rear-drive car. Those K-cars still have the split in the middle to accomodate a drive axel to the rear-wheels.
I'd then have a beautiful, stylish car with lots of power!  yes

Only the 2.2L 4cyl. turbo engine. I'd replace that junk with a V8 HEMI.  yes

The problem was that when the oil leaked from the valve cover gasket, it would leak on to the turbo charger and exhaust causing a fire.
That was only with the 4cyl. turbo.
