That one is an interesting one. We have many different sizes of paper at work and we took the biggest one we could find and still could not fold it more than 7 times.  Smile

Here's some from me:

*The mouse is the most common mammal in the US.

*On average it will cost $6,400 to raise a medium size dog to 11 years old

*Abraham Lincoln faces to the right on a penny while all the other presidents face to the left on US coins.

*Sherlock Holmes never said "Elementary, my dear Watson."

Disproven on Mythbusters. Granted, they glued together thousands of sheets to make one big one, but they still managed to fold it 11 times.

I just folded a small piece of paper 8 times. Does it have to be folded in half or just any fold 7 + times.

Yeah, but if you take just one sheet of paper without gluing it together it doesn't work. We tried a whole bunch of different types and sizes of paper.

Another Star Wars related fun fact is that Darth Vader doesn't say "Luke I am your father."

I like that! But it's a bit of an exaggeration...

Texas - 261,797 sq mi. land area

Alaska - 571,951 sq mi. land area

Half of Alaska - 285,976 sq mi. land area - bigger than Texas, Alaska would be 1 and 2.

One third of Alaska - 190,650 sq mi. land area - Alaska would be 2, 3, and 4 between Texas and California

One quarter of Alaska - 142,988 sq mi. land area - that would be 4, 5, 6, and 7, right after Montana

You can't call it discrimination. You can call it a lack of consideration. We don't get excluded from stuff for being left-handed. We don't get insulted and called names. Our jobs aren't given away to others. There are groups of people with many worse problems in regards to discrimination than left-handed people.

But yes, most appliances are made for Dexterous people (right-handed people in Latin, as opposed to left-handers, who are called Sinisters). And it can get annoying, but nowadays many, many things are made ambidextrious for exactly that reason. There's a great book called "The Left-Hander's Handbook" which is a very enjoyable read.

Plus, when someone points out that you're left-handed, just look at them and say, "Well, God only made a few of us the correct way." Or tell them that 2 centuries ago, 87% of people were left-handed, which IIRC, is a documented fact.

Or tell them that 2 centuries ago, 87% of people were left-handed, which IIRC, is a documented fact.

That's pretty interesting... Why the switch in only 200 years?

Yeah, but if you take just one sheet of paper without gluing it together it doesn't work. We tried a whole bunch of different types and sizes of paper.

On Mythbusters, Grant used tracing paper and did it 8 times...

It is impossible to lick your elbow

Actually, not entirely true. My girlfriend can do it. I've seen it.

According to Scandinavian traditions, if a boy and girl eat from the same loaf of bread, they are bound to fall in love.

That one is news to me. Must be a Swedish or Danish thing then...  Wink

Apart from humans, the Koala bear is the only mammal with unique fingerprints.

Quoting Pelican (Reply 20):
I think this isn't true at all

Pelican is right, it isn't true. A Koala is a marsupial, not a mammal

Quoting StealthZ (Reply 35):
The thing that really confirms the untruth of this is the fact that a koala is NOT a bear!

Once again true, a bear is a mammal while a Koala is not!
After Monday and Tuesday even the calendar says WTF...
