Short Vacation In Sydney

Tue Feb 13, 2007 5:46 am

Hey Guy's
Me and a friend are going to be visiting SYD for reading break and I was just wondering if anyone had some helpful hints on where to eat, where to drink etc... We found a hostel right by Bondi Beach... Noah I think it was called. So most of our trip will be around the area. Are there any good clubs around Bondi Beach, or good bars? We are only down for a few days and want to have a good time. Leaving YVR on AC33 on the 18th Arriving on the 20th and leaving on the 24th so we have to cram everything in. Also one of the days it would be nice to head into town see the sights, any ideas on places to avoid (take to much time of our day) I know you can climb the bridge, but AFAIK its WAY to expensive (think student budget)... Anyways any insight would be great thanks!  Smile PS I did see some posts about stoping in SYD, however there might be some new people on the site, as well as some ideas for bars/clubs etc close to Bondi Beach.

Mmm Noah's is quite nice, nice view of Bondi Beach anyway ... Bondi isn't my scene but there's lots of pubs/clubs etc there, so you won't be disappointed.

Re the Bridge, just go for a walk on the bridge deck, it's just as wonderful. If not, there's the Pylon Lookout on the south side, $12.50 per person gets you up to the top of one of the pylons - IMHO the views are the same and it's not a rip-off.

Also, if you have the urge to go up Sydney Tower, don't. Try Summit Restaurant at Australia Square instead (the building is a round one, go figure) - it's a revolving restaurant with a bar, and although expensive for a drink, you can have 2 drinks for less than the price of a Sydney Tower ticket, and you could watch the views come to you, sitting down!

Enjoy the Aussie sunshine! (which has been wonderfully absent for the past few days - we ARE all praying for rain, and lots of it)

Thanks alot... Ill try and make my way downtown but I will stay away from the Sydney Tower thanks for the advice! As far as I am concerned I would be happy with sun or rain... Sun being selfish, Rain I understand you guys are having an extremly dry year.... Lots of forest fires and all... So either way just happy to go...

Cheers Chris
