I am very sorry for her, but I believe suicides are and shouldn't be major news items. It makes it worse for the friends and family and also brings other people "on ideas"
nobody has ever died from hard work, but why take the risk?

I wonder what drove her to it. Sad to read something like this. I remember about 12 or 13 years ago a F/A with AA tried to commit suicide on a layover in Hartford-BDL. She slashed her wrists and got in the bathtub of her hotel room, but they were able to save her somehow.

Stay tuned to this one. The scuttlebutt (my cousin is an NY-based DL flight attendant) is that there are some questionable details about the situation, and it is not entirely clear exactly what happened. Suicide has not been officially concluded, nor has anything else been ruled out.

Are you suggesting it might have been murder? Now, that would be really bad.

Let us wait and see the real reason, easy to read a newspaper report, but half the time they are wrong about the cause. Take ANS they said it was suicide and look what has happened since. My thought and prayers are with the family

My first thought, having had first hand experiences of police work in India, was that the cops could be least bothered to have a murder investigation on their hands and took the easy way out. However, a petty murder would be far fetched at a high end hotel as the Taj. Indeed if there is foul play involved, it'd have to be a crime of passion. Hope that the truth comes out and my condolence to all involved.

This is not igniting rumors so much as passing along vague information that has been presented to me.

Out of respect for the parties involved, I will not mention any other details that have been brought to my attention. Naturally, a lot of false information swirls around when something like this happens, and it is difficult to avoid paying attention to the rumors. Still, the whole situation sounds sketchy, and a clearer picture is to follow.

A sad event, no doubt.

Based on a few conversations I have had with people in the know about this incident today, suffice it to say that Delta is treating it as an "alleged suicide". I don't think any further comment is appropriate in a public forum until more details are available.

While agreeing with AsstChiefMark, this isn't the thread to be discussing sexist job titles.

Someone passed away in our (airliner) family, let her lie in peace and may she continue to fly wherever she is. Give her that much respect, please.

Save all other comments for other threads.

Relax, it's probably an Indian who wrote this and their use of the English language might be different than ours. Perhaps Airhost and Airhostess is what they call them.

You're talking about someone's life who if they did commit suicide is very tragic. Suicide is never the answer to your problems but sometimes people get so low they think they can never overcome what is troubling them and most of the time they can. To have no sympathy for her is your choice. My heart goes out to her friends and family now whatever way she died.

Hey Mark, that is what they are called in a lot of the world, it is a hang over from years ago. A lot of people still use that name in reference to FA'S. I still call them Stews. I just hope that this can be solved quickly and her body returned home to her family

Boy it's funny to see how some things get totally blown out of proportion! A body was indeed found in a DL wheel well. The flight, however, was NOT from BOM. The flight was from DKR. It was not the first flight from DKR-ATL either. It was about a month into service when it happened.

I sort of agree with you here. To commit suicide is an absolutely horrible thing to put your family and friends through. I would know. My uncle whom we all loved and never thought would ever commit suicide did. My cousins were in complete shock. It totally saddened me at the time as well (4-5 yrs. ago).

That is one of the cruelest things to say. People don't commit suicide for the heck of it. I am sure she was dealing with more than she could handle to do this. God forbid the airline have to cancel a flight because of it. The flight did depart approximately 0155/15FEB minus one crew member.

Many, many airline employees have had to deal with many different issues since the financial decline of the industry. EAP cases within this industry have skyrocketed. Suicide is a tragic situation. It is sad to think someone feels that they have no where else to turn.

I feel for her and the family and friends she left behind. May she rest in eternal peace.

No information on this, sorry. These reports are probably derived from the "police blotter" so they won't have it.
I assume at some point the US local press from where she was based may pick up the story and report on it.

If it was a suicide, I have no sympathy for her, only her family.

For your sake, I hope that something like this will never happen to you or your family. Condemnation sometimes seems so easy because as humans we never seem to think that certain thing can happen to our families. When a suicide in the family occurs, all sort of questions pop up and never seem to be completely answered. Almost 7 months ago, I found my sister with a single gunshot wound to her head. Every day is a new battle to get up and try to get on with your life. I cry for our loss, but I also get extremely emotional when I visualize the mental hell my sister went through before she finally snapped. No matter what, you always tend to ask yourself why you didn’t see the signs or silent cries for help? In the end faith and the support of family and true friends tend to carry you forward, however seeing your parents’ age overnight is not easy…

My deepest condolences and sympathies go out to her family and friends.
