Happy Holi to you too and to all Indian brethren...

Sigh... These are the times I miss India so much. I miss those gunjiya (Dough filled with almonds, pistachio, coconut, raisings and sugar mixture, cut into decorative pieces and then fried) and sweets so much. Not to mention thandai....(skimmed milk preparation with pistachio, nuts and sugar)

The burning of holika the previous night of holi made sure that the whole colony came out to witness the bon-fire and celebrate in the mild chilly night.

Early next morning waking up - wearing your oldest clothes and then just go out and get wild throwing colours and water balloons on anyone and everything you see... Holi is one day where just for the day, all enmity is forgotten and is just a celebration with no holds barred....

Who can forget Puranpoli (Essentially hot and fresh tortilla-type wheat bread filled with sweet lentil preparation) with milk...

Sigh...sigh...sigh....I miss home...
Flim-Flam Balderdash...

Oh yes, I forgot, Holi-Phagwah - a lot of Hindus live in the neighbourhood where I work. The whole neighbourhood will be covered in paint and reeking of perfume. However it is nothing a day or two of rain can't remove.

Have fun folks.
