Anti-Soda Sodas?

Fri Mar 09, 2007 10:56 am

I just saw a commercial on TV about the newest line of soft drinks released by Coca-Cola and Pepsi. Diet Coke Plus and Pepsi's 'Tava' are supposed to taste just like the original drink, but are no unhealthy at all. 0 sugar, 0 calories, and no Aspartame. Coke and Pepsi are doing very well at getting rid of their reputations of being responsible for the Health loss of the World in recent years.

This is very good for me, because I'm a Pepsi Addict. Any other comments on these new Products?

Cheers
Carson

Actually... Coke has a product here called Coke Zero, which is exactly what you said before. Just a different name I guess.

Yes, I was offered Free Coke Zero's Many a Time at 7-11. I think the difference is the fact that Coke Zero is sweetened by aspartame.

Cheers

Coke Zero is sweetened with an aspartame/sucralose blend. Anyway, Aspartame is a simple protein that happens to taste significantly sweeter than sugar, which means they need to use less than a 250mg of it, hence being able to make a 0 calorie claim. There is nothing unhealthy about it if you are not allergic or a pheynolketonuric, who have to have a generally low protein diet.

Coke Zero is available in Canada and has been almost as long as it has been available in the US.

According to the reports I have read on it, it is supposed to taste like Diet Coke, not Coke Classic, and will be vitimin enhanced. It strikes me as Coke and Pepsi piggy backing on the 7UP Plus concept.

Agreed, I never actually call it Soda at all. It is Pop. I just used the term the News guys did, because it was kinda clever i suppose.

I had a friend who went down to the U.S. and asked for a pop and nobody knew what that was. They only knew it by Soda. Kinda Weird.  Wink

Cheers

That would be Coke Piggy backing only, as the Pepsi Co. owns 7Up!  Wink

Cadbury Schweppes owns 7up in the US and PepsiCo owns it in the rest of the world, licensed out to various local drinks companies.

Incorrect. Cadbury Schweppes owns 7Up and licenses the distribution rights to Pepsico.
