Dem Primaries, Let The Mud Begin To Fly

Tue Mar 20, 2007 12:50 am

Still 9 months away and already they are eating their own. This is going to be so much fun to watch. I would not want to be a Hillary sidekick after she saw this....

There are some even worse variations of this video out there but all kind of play off of this one. Since this is just a play on the original mac commercial it's not truly brilliant but you have to give kudos to whomever thought about making the switches involved in it. Very funny stuff.

And are you going to post something similar the first time Romney's or Brownback's camp publishes something that touts their 'true' Republican roots, unlike certain others who support abortions and gays?

You know as well as I do just how nasty both sides will get w/ their own. Since Clinton/Obama have the most visibility right now, do you think its a surprise they're the first w/ the ads?

Of course this will happen... thier called issues and we fight about them. What issue other than 2nd guessing the war do Obama and Clinton differ on ? Probably not many ... they will just sling mud at each other because they dont really have any issues to fight about. The Republicans do infact have "core values" among the party that set the stage for political debate and yes probably some flaming darts.

I have a long term interest in politics, but it is being tested in the obscenity the 2008 US Presidential Primary campaign has been so far and will be for the next 14 months. It is being made worse by the log jam of many states shifting their primary elections into early February to get the attention from the candidates and away from marginal states like New Hampshire and Iowa. As a result, there will be very little real campaigning and probably $150 MILLION + in sound bite ads, with no substantial discussion of complex issues. The need for all that money means that the rich will be able to buy candidates to push their interests, with only token items to the 90%+ of Americans.

Don't take the post the wrong way, I truly do find it entertaining to watch both sides take pot shots at each other. Lord knows they wouldn't dare come out with what they really want to do for fear of getting chopped off at the knees.

Well there is something we can both agree on. I'm sick of the race already and it hasn't even begun. In all honesty did it ever stop after it had begun in 2000? Seems like both sides have been constantly campaigning for President ever since then.

However bad the mudsilinging gets (and it will get worse before it gets better) between the Democrats, it will appear like a great big love-in compared to what will happen in the GOP.

For better, worse, or indifferent social conservatives are the base of the Republican party, and I don't think there has ever been a time where a party's leading candidates for president have been so far removed from its base. Before long we are going to see one of the lower tier candidates; Brownback, Huckabee, maybe even Gingrich make a play for the heart of the GOP and it will be brutal. Abortion, immigration, and enough gay bashing to make Fred Phelps proud will be the hallmarks of the campaign. And while the right wing will eat it up, the center will be so turned off that whoever survives the bloodshed will have to spend the general election campagin digging themselves out of a huge hole.

Make that three of us on the same page - other than for comic relief, I'm going to try and avoid it as much as possible until January of next year.

As if the Republican Party is going to be a peaceful dialogue of debate.  Yeah sure

Agreed!
Once Newt Gingrich announces his candidacy, it will get very ugly.  yes
Newt is has ability to launch a very ugly campaign and will do a good job crippling who ever the frontrunner may be. I think he'll hurt Giulani the most. Brownback will swing ever further to the right. It will be funny watching them all trying to court the Haggart and Bob Jones sect of the GOP.

Senators Clinton and Obama will be much more civil in there campaigns.

It's all about choosing sides. Most of us know who here is on which side of the political issues.

Don't count on it.

I would love to be proven wrong, but considering the state of politics in this country, I fully expect this to be the nastiest campaign we've ever witnessed.

After obliviously slaughtering several Spanish names, Mittens Romney apparently chose to end a speech in Miami with the words, "Patria o muerte, venceremos!" He intended to emphasize that Cuba should be free. It turns out that phrase is the same one that Castro has used to end his speeches for over 40 years. It translates to, "'Fatherland or death, we shall overcome.''

I'm going to laugh my ass off when clueless, out-of-touch Republican candidates start pretending that they know the needs and desires of American citizens.

Expect the pundits and commentators to be very nasty in there assesment of the two candidates. Clinton and Obama personally won't be that nasty to each other.
The problem is that some people want the two to rip each others heads off.

Good commercial.

Unfortunately, the same message could be said about the entire Democrat Party, with all it's interest groups sitting there soaking up the same messages for the past 70 years.

Not much new thinking coming from the Democrats.

But still a very good commercial. I wonder if they'll have the balls to run it on TV.

You have more faith in politicians than I. While I think Obama would like to run a 'clean' campaign, All of the PACs and even Hillary's campaign is going to get down and dirty, and eventually Obama will respond in kind. I've never seen an example of a candidate, who 'rises above it all', actually succeed at the polls (says something about the American elecotrate  Sad )

MD I had not , and at the time I did not know that it was not "sanctioned" by the Obama camp.

I assumed it was from the Obama campaign , It would be pretty stong if it was from them. .. Knowing what I know now ,, its pretty lame.
