Keeping The Dog Off The Furniture

Thu Mar 22, 2007 10:19 am

I've had enough with the girlfriend's dog climbing up on my sofa. I'll put cushions up to stop him doing it but he'll nudge them off and then lie like Lord Muck on there for the rest of the day. He knows he isn't allowed to do it and always jumps off when he me returning home and then gives the 'I'm innocent, me' face when I tell him off. He's currently chained up for his misdemeanours.

So any ideas on how to keep him off? I guess something that makes him not want to get up there in the first place - an electric shock, water pistol etc. would do the trick.

Green apple spray. Animals hate the smell.

Mousetraps.

Buy a few, set them and space them along the sofa. Worked for our dog like a charm.

Also, buy a dog bed -- a real comfy one. Our dog has no desire to get on the furniture since she has her own comfy place.

A friend did this for her cats. Just make sure you tell your friends before they attempt to sit down!  Smile

Easiest way: Don't have a dog.
