What an idiot! Just goes to show that no matter how much you spend on a car it will not make you a better driver.
Looked at the video again and I don't think the car is a total loss. It looks worse then it is because carbon fiber tends to shatter when you crash it. Take the car to your local Ferrari shop and after about 6 months, and about $200,000 the car will be good as new.

You right one on this one.
Daniel Sadek needs a mental exam to let an idiot like Griffin drive/race a 1.5 million dollar car.

How the Hell did he make enough money from Undercover Brother and Deuce Bigelow movies to afford that sweet ass car? He needs a severe ass beating. It's one thing to lose it in on a twisty mountain road but in a damn parking lot!?

Yes. Hence the disgust in our comments.
Who gives a damn. He screwed up a great car because he is a moron. Had it been a Lincoln with 24" spinner rims he would have known how to drive it.

Gaaaah. At least he was okay. Poor Enzo. It wasn't his btw.

Settle down Francis. It's called sarcasm for crying out loud. Given his role as a pimp in various movies it is free game to joke that he could drive a pimpmobile. Are you just looking to be offended at every turn?
That makes it even worse!

My bad. My sarcasim detector is malfunctioning at the moment. It's hard to tell on the interwebs sometimes. Who is Francis? <----Sarcastic.
I want an Enzo. <-----Seriously.

Thank you so much for getting this reference. It's just not funny when you have to explain it to people.
I'd prefer an Aston Martin but if someone said here you go, have an Enzo I sure as hell wouldn't turn them down.

No great loss. One less peice of Italian trash on the roads. The owner could probably put it in a container, ship it back to Maranello and I'm sure for the right fee, they'll fix it for him.

Just goes to show some people shouldn't drive certain cars. Certainly I wouldn't let anyone but only those capabable of driving such a car. Does make a great vid clip though and no people got hurt. A car can be fixed.

Agreed - the car could probably be repaired (and I'd venture to say that it probably will be due to demand for the limited production quantity of the Enzo). The mid and aft sections of the car don't appear to have suffered any obvious damage - (judging only by the very crrude video). However, the chassis won't deform like a typical sheet metal unibody vehicle - It is quite resilient.
Each F1 chassis used in FIA crash tests actually goes on to race during the year. This is an FIA requirement - each chassis is provided with a data plate affixed with tamper proof sealant to verify crashworthiness. I knew this to be true in the late 1990s and I haven't seen any data to suggest that the certification requirements have been changed since that time.
Was it mentioned for a fact that this chassis will be scrapped? Even if the drivetrain was damaged, it wouldn't necessarily condemn the car to scrap. A fair number of Ferrari cars see engine rebuilds or replacements through their lifetime (especially those spending time on the track which can be rebuilt every few months or several thousand miles).
http://www.web-cars.com/enzo/chassis_a.html
I wouldn't be surprised if the chassis could survive this crash.

That isn't a write off - no way. The damage doesn't even look that bad. Unless the chassis is bent or buckled badly, it would take a lot to write off a car with a value such as that.

It's interesting how often you see Ferrari basically split in half with engine torn out of the car's body

Well...the other guy has plenty of insurance on his million dollar + car I'm sure. He can replace it with another Enzo (he'll have to look for a
used one.... but still, they can be found. Or, he could buy the new FXX....the enzo on crack. For the money and performance though, I'd buy a Carrera
GT.... And a beach house in St. Kitts with the remaining cash. lol.
Sad though for the car. It sort of makes me ache every time i see a video clip like that. Thats countless hours of world-class engineering, mechanical genius, and top of the line craftsmanship...being plowed into a concrete barrier.
Ouch.

Related to this is the fact that in many of these very intense high speed crashes, the passenger compartment is completely intact and secure.... and the occupants relatively uninjured. When you pay over a million dollars for a car, you're often getting a lot more than just performance.

That's great, but what about those unlucky enough to have a close encounter with a Ferrari disintegrating during a crash. Be it pedestrians or other drivers???
To make an analogy: It's wonderful that today's F1 cars have almost indestructible driver's compartment made from all kinds of space technologies and materials but then you have wheels flying from the car during a crash killing people.

There not supposed too, though. Some changes were introduced a few seasons ago that were something to do with enhancing the wheel tethers. It isn't so much of a problem now, as they don't tend to break off the car as much now. If they come off these days, it takes a hell of an impact, or impact at an obscure angle at high speed.

I believe that many Ferrari's, especially the newer ones such as the Enzo use the engine as a fully stressed structural member. This may account for why the engine / gearbox / rear suspension separates from the passenger tub in high velocity accidents.

Agreed. Poor old Enzo would be spinning in his grave
. It looks like there are a few more to add to the tally
.
Another view of the crash in my original post;
