I Got My Federal Income Tax Back Today!

Fri Mar 30, 2007 8:54 am

So I got off work today and made the 3.2 mile drive to my house. Decided to stop off and check the mail. I opened up my mail box and all I saw was junkmail and such. But on the very bottom, low and behold, it was my Federal Income Tax return!!

Granted, it was only $809 but that's still better than paying the government. And the whole process of sending in your taxes and getting them back is improving. It used to take 6 to 8 weeks a couple of years ago. This time, it took 3 and a half weeks from the time I mailed them on March 5th until I got them back today.

State took even less time, 2 and a half weeks. I got $206 back from them.

So long story short, have you done your taxes? If so, have you gotten them back? And if you did get them, how much did you owe/receive?

$4100 From the Feds

Received last Friday

All because I was able to deduct my calf implants as a work expense and my tape worms as dependents!  Smile

Umm, you did. You just overpaid them all year long and they kept your $809 interest free.

Why didn't you e-file? Free, and mine only took 1 week and 3 days from the time my CPA sent it to show up in my account.

what on earth is tax return? and i thought you paid the government...if they deduct so much from your paycheck every payday, how does that really come as a profit so to say?

I personally would have just spent it on beer anyway. Now I can have a drag out good time at the titty bar on Midget Tuesday.

I got my $7 back from Arizona Monday. I did the old-fashioned snail mail filing, but the refunds are set to go directly into my checking account. My $70 refund from the feds should be along shortly.

I got my tax return back a few weeks ago. Opened the envelope and was happy at how rich I had become. Then I looked through the rest of the days mail to find the internet bill, electric bill, and credit card bill. Well, I wasn't as rich as I thought.  Smile

Have you already blown it on gay midget porn? I bet you have given some of your responses on here lately.  Wink

You overpaid the government. They had your money interest free. Had you owed them more they wouldn't give you such generous terms.

Same thing as above.

Or you could spend an hour or two and figure out the math so you come out even at tax time. Tell me one thing...you know the exact amount you are getting refunded but do you know the exact amount you paid in taxes?

Actually you grossly overpaid the feds and in effect gave them an interest free loan. It’s not really something that you should get excited about.

I'm getting $0. I owe $0. None of my income here is taxable, but the IRS still wants to hear from me every year anyway, in the form of a 1040 and a 2555-EZ. Yay them.

I have a job with a decent base salary and some pretty unknown commissions. They could be anywhere from 1/10th to 1/4 of my salary. That coupled with large unknown deductions throughout the year, I would rather just overpay then be hit with some crazy amount at the end of the year.

Yes, I suppose that all of you Forbes who are knocking the people on here for not collecting the interest on what would have been enormous returns are pretty savy.  Yeah sure

Getting refunded:

Federal: $1100 or so
State: $224

E-filed both on Saturday. Got my state refund today. 5 days - not too shabby.

$300+ is going straight into the car (new front suspension struts).

Actually, it went to my credit card. I racked up $7000 on my Southwest Credit Card. So now I only owe $6000.

As far as the gay midget porn, it's not really my thing. I am a fan of BangBus.

A chunk of my income this year was 1099 income so I got whacked in taxes. But I knew it was coming, so I have a little nest egg in my HSBC Internet Savings account, accruing a generous 5.05% APY.

I am paying:
Federal: $1952
State of NJ: $420

Federal Refund: (-)$2500
State Refund: (State income tax? Whassat? Something people in loser states have to do, I guess)

We owe this year, 'cause my side job is 1099 only. We pay quarterly, which helps lighten the hit in April.

Same here. Give a me a little bit of money every paycheck, and I'll just spend it on stupid stuff. Give me a nice refund come tax time and I'll be happy  Smile

I'd rather pay than get a return, but my itemized deductions keep putting me in that "get money back" category.
