Does Anyone Else Own A BlackBerry 8700?

Sat Mar 31, 2007 12:57 am

I have one of these with T-Mobile. I wouldn't trade it for the world. Coming in midApril, I have had this phone for a year. It has 27 Day, 19 Hour, 50 Minutes, 59 Seconds of total talking time. It is beat to no end, dents from all sides, clearly worn in. Up until recently, I have not had a single problem with this phone and it is honestly, worth every penny. Its great for emails, texting, phone use, planner, games, internet (using it now for this).

However, for about the past month, it has been shutting down on me whenever it wants. About 3 months ago I had a problem with it when it would be turned off (which I NEVER do) in that it would take about 30min to start back up again. T-Mobile was nice in that the wait line for Handheld support was 3.5 hours, you leave your name, number, and they'll call you back when they're free. Sure enough after 4 hours, got a call, spent an hour adding new software and the problem was gone. Happy me.

With the release of the BlakcBerry 8800, I'm excited to see the prices of the 8700 drop (don't like the lame case that comes with the 8800). As stated above, right now it shuts down whenever it wants. I have a password on the blackberry and when it shuts down, I get a solid red light, screen goes out, and after about 10 seconds, the Tmobile logo pops up, and then my screen, where I left off is back up. The radio shows as off but turns itself back on, and I'm not asked to enter a password. I know I need a new one and have no problems paying for a new one since it'll clearly last me at least a year (eturnity for a student these days). Is this fixable or should I just bite the bullet and go and get a new one? I'm trying to wait it out until next month for the 8800 to come out so the price drops by $100 - $150.

Thanks for the help!

Are you up for a new phone with your TMobile contract?

If fixing your Blackberry requires more than a few bucks, I would just replace it..
