Either Way, A Woman Could Be President...

Sat Mar 31, 2007 1:18 am

Vote for Hillary or vote for Giuliani, you're getting a woman president.

Just kidding ;p

After all the talk and hype about Hillary's role in the Bill Clinton presidency ... Rudy Giuliani is making it very public that is wife Judith is playing an active role in his campaign and will be sitting in and, if elected, she would take part in Cabinet meetings of issues she finds an interest in.

Interesting statement.

Could it be an appeal to those on the left who would be swayed by a woman having a role with the Presidency?

Giuliani's statements made tonight on ABC's 20/20.

Here in France the likelyhood to get a female president are 50/50...
I'd love to have a female president -but not -like in France- an upscale socialist (Ségolène Royal ) who has no clue about international, security or defense -politics.
Angela Merkel in Germany is doing quite well, although a little bit to uncomitted and not enough profiled ..
Hillary seems to me a little bit too smart - meaning she turns her opinion like the wind turns... ( Irak ..??) and is a pure produce of the political system - a little bit more Obama would do her well..!

Thats true Ted, good point, and that's why a lot of people don't like Hillary. Her failed health care system for starters. She was said to co-run the country and it sits wrong with many people.

Rudy is messing up with this one. Glad he trusts his wife and all, but we aren't voting for a couple, we're voting for an individual.

it's a trend that's spread.

Elisabeth Edwards will be joining John on the campaign trail full time ...

Michelle Obama is holding her own rallies.

John McCain's wife has also been very prominent within his campaign.

He may have killed his campaign with that.

I don't think Edward's wife factor's as much as a "co-President", like Bill Clinton, Rudy's wife or any other contender's spouse. Edwards and his wife are in a good position in this regard - she's not bringing anything that could be viewed as baggage (like being married to a former President, or being identified as someone who will help shape policy, i.e. Rudy's wife), and she has a sympathy among voters considering her trials with cancer.

But, you're probably right - none of the ones you mentioned will win Big grin .

First ladies are often involved with the presidencies. They take on their own causes to keep busy. Nancy Reagan had the "Just Say No to Drugs campaign", Barbara Bush had the "war on poverty" campaign, Hillary Clinton was trying to promote a comprehensive gov't-provided healthcare reform plan, Laura Bush has promoted, childrens education and teacher advocacy(her being one before her live as a politicians wife). First ladies are always involved, some more than others, but nothing new.

At least she brought substance to the words First Lady, as opposed to at least one of her successors.

Yea, Barbara Bush really is a classless bitch! You know, those Katrina victims really didn't have much anyway, so living in the Superdome really was a step up huh?

Honestly tho, Nancy Reagan was a disgusting cluless hag. When her nose wasn't stuck up in the air, it was involved in Ronnie's business. But I guess the psychics told her to do that...lol

"Just say no!"...Yea, how'd that work out?  rotfl

Right, and first ladies have sat in on cabinet meeting before over many domestic issues, Hillary Clinton.

Quoting STLGph (Reply 12):

I know you really don't think much of her because she's married to the President, but you really shouldn't demean her for it. She was still a teacher and she deserves the due-respect for it,

Quoting STLGph (Thread starter):

Again, no red flags here:
Some critics called it inappropriate for the First Lady to play a central role in matters of public policy. Supporters pointed out that Clinton's role in policy was no different from that of other White House advisors and that voters were well aware that she would play an active role in her husband's Presidency.[25] Bill Clinton's campaign promise of "two for the price of one" led opponents to refer derisively to the Clintons as "co-presidents",[26] or sometimes "Billary".[27]

Many cabinet meetings might be of strong interest to her. Perhaps, she's pondering a foray into politics herself in the not-to-distant future, Who knows?

Actually drug use amongst teens has fallen since since the 1980's. Whether or not Just Say No had any impact on it is up for debate, but it was certainly a noble cause. What have you done to improve quality of life for teens?

Why's that do you think? Is it because there are women involved in these campaigns, and does that somehow bother you? I really am curious as to why you are so sure that these campaigns which the wives are involved in will not win.
