A Day In Copenhagen What To Do?

Mon Apr 02, 2007 1:39 pm

Looks as if now I will have to spend a day in Copenhagen on my way to the Reykjavik meet. Any ideas on where to go or what to do?
Warm winds blowing, heating blue skies, and a road that goes forever. I'm going to Texas!

Plenty.

Go to Tivoli Gardens . . . . not a bad place to while away a day or even a couple 4-5 hours.

Madame Toussads Wax Museum

The Harbor.

I'd post pics, but they are from 1982 and I never got around to digitizing them.

Can't miss on Tivoli though.

That'd be my best suggestion. Big enough to keep you busy for a while, small enough that you won't miss out if you have to leave.

Oh, and go to a Danish restaurant. They have excellent food and beer  Smile

Across the road from Central Station. Easy to get to.

Probably on Istedgade somewhere, that is the red light district - so they say. That is on the other side of Central Station.

Make sure you get the hot dog thingy.

There are plenty of bikes parked by Central Station, if you need one, use one.

If you get on an elevator, push the I Fart button. I have no idea what it does though.

If you need my number for Iceland let me know. Its not the same one that was on the LAS list. That one doesn't work in Europe.

I would suggest Tivoli Gardens as well.
Great place. It will cost you 15USD to enter. And if you want a ride pass you will have to pay 30 dollars more or so.
But there are plenty of things to do here. You also got Nyhavn, The Planetarium, Nice chicks  Wink , Strøget, Carlsberg Brewery Tour (but you have to come in a group), The Royal Palace etc..

If you want some more info IM me. I'll probably be around in CPH at the time you are here.

"I Fart" is only an indicator, it is plain Danish language meaning "Running". Nothing happens when you push it.

I've got some from 1882.

1882 is also roughly the time when those "I Fart" indicators were put up on the elevators.
Today, since we have learned that due to globalization the English language is gaining some use also outside London city borders, then we have slowly started to replace those indicators with a more appropriate text or symbol. Come back in 2082 and most of them will be gone.
