ok, so, my cell phone died a week ago or so. I got the great idea of taking it apart...
Its a old nokia phone.
Anyways, I got everything ready to go, but found I didn't have the correct screw driver (some funky star shape). Ah well, get out the drill, and I drilled out the screws. Ok, only one. I severely messed up the drill bit in the process, and probably inhaled some metal fragments. Heres a picture of the drill bit (note the band of... something... that got added to the bit during the process):
About midway through the drilling-out-the-screw process, I realized I hadn't taken out the battery. I realized when I started smelling some foul smell... took the battery out (only slightly damaged from drill, just surfacy damage), and all was well.
Ok, so, no way to get the other screws out. Hmm. Maybe I'll just pry the whole thing open, or borrow my sister's soldering gun. Prying it open worked somewhat.
Next, I wiggled the screw driver around to get the LCD screen out, which was my main goal. Cracked in the process, but:
Some rather interesting backing to the LCD screen... translucent, but very bright white, and holographic. Interesting.
So, now my fingers smell like a photography shop, and I realized the LCD screen is leaking some junk. I washed my hands, but... eesh. I'm hoping it was just some gummy glue that got on my hands. Any idea is LCD fluid is bad on your skin??
